Betty asks…
Can you get false LH surge from digital ovulation test?
I tested 1 week ago and got a positive for only 1 day and tested positive again this morning
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
As with any machine or electronic device, yes, it’s possible for the thing to have a malfunction.
That’s not the most likely explanation, though.
The most likely explanation is simply that often enough, ovulation attempts fail. My last cycle, I
started to ovulate around CD22-ish. Had I been using ovulation tests, they would have shown
impending ovulation around then. But then I traveled. Different things affect different women
differently. Stress has never derailed my cycles, but travel around ovulation always does. My
body ended up failing to ovulate around CD22ish (which is around my normal time), and it had
to try again later. You can see all this on my chart below.
Failed ovulation attempts are relatively common, more so for some women than for others, but
still. It’s best to just keep the limitations of ovulation tests in mind. The only thing they can tell
you is that you are experiencing an LH surge. They cannot verify if that LH surge actually
accomplishes anything or not.

2. Donna asks…
What is a good LH SURGE test ? AND, What is a good Ovulation
Test ??
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
A good Ovulation Predictor Kit is Clear Blue Easy – this detects the LH surge. When you get a
positive it means that most likely ovulation will take place in the next 24 -48 hours.
As to detecting ovulation, the doctor can do a CD21 progesterone test (blood test) to confirm
whether or not ovulation has occured. I am not aware of another way to be positive of ovulation
at home . . .

3. Sandy asks…
If an ovulation test shows an LH surge two days in a row, does
that mean that I didn’t ovulate the first day?
My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for about 10 months. We took on our 3rd
dosage of Clomid, 150MG this month. My doctor wanted me to come in to do an ultrasound to
make sure the folicles were enlarging and that my uterus was plump. I could not go in until my
CD14, but we were all ok with that because I did that the previous month too, and I had not
ovulated yet on CD14. Everything looked perfect: 20mm folicle, plump utuerus lining… He gave
me an LH shot in the stomach, and sent me on my way… That was Tuesday. Wednesday
morning, I took an ovulation test and it showed an LH surge… So, my husband and I had
intercourse. Then, this morning, Thursday, we had intercourse again. Then, I took another
ovulation test, and it read exactly as the one did yesterday…LH SURGE! So, my question is
as above… Perhaps I have not even ovulated yet, since I still have that surge detection…on CD
16??!! Please advise…
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
Clomid can cause you too have an LH surge more often then once, I would try to have sex
every other day if at all possible through out the entire month and then every day right around
ovulation.

5. a surge. pls put my mind at rest.
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
Yes i was doin the tests,i use to be reg,but after a miscarriage i was all over the place and never
been right since, there should be a chart with your tests to tell you when to start testing depends
on how many days your last cycle was,it dont matter if one month your 28 days then the next 30
days test every day when you are suppose too love you should pick a surge up,some months it
was the 3rd test that came positive and another month it took 5 tests to get a positive.i gave up
in the end because i couldn’t afford the tests, and i fell preg best of luck hope this helps
