Sandra asks…

Doing IUI on cycle day 15. I usually ovulate on day 13 or 14…?
My doctor scheduled my IUI for cycle day 15 (because that’s a Monday). Are they usually
scheduled ahead of time? I thought it would involve using OPK and going in when my LH surge
was detected. Anyone have any experiences with IUI? How did your doctor go about it?
Successful stories? Thanks!

Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:

My doctor confirmed that I was about to ovulate through ultrasound and blood work, and then
scheduled me for two days later. His office is open 365 days a year.

                                                                                        1/6
Sandy asks…

Ovulation kit and IUI’s ! PLEASE ANSWER!!!?
My ovulation kit was positive yesterday 3-23-08 and today its negative. I got a IUI saturday
3-22-08 morning and my doctor said my LH surge just begun to show on (3/22/08) and then I
got another IUI again today…was it a complete waste of time being though the ovulation test was
negative today..Or should i have got the IUI on sunday(when i got a positive OPK)? or is it a
possibilitiy that i was still ovulating today and stop today as well? im just a lost mess.

Serious ANswers only!!

Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:

You are on way to having a baby

Helen asks…

                                                                                        2/6
Back-to-back IUIs or just one?
Hello!!! I desperately need someadvice. I tested positive with OPK at 2:30 this afternoon–this
was after I got a negative this morning. So, as per policy of RE, I am going in for the IUI the only
time slot available tommorow morning at 9:30 am. This is my last IF treatment ever. I have two
vials of donor sperm which I had planned on combining. However, frozen sperm only lives for
like 12 hours and if I don’t ovulate until 36 hours post-LH surge, it will be 17 hours after the IUI.
Now I’m thinking maybe I should spend twice the money and have two back-to-back IUIs.
However, I really don’t want to as I am in the middle of finals for my last week of grad school
ever!!!! So, I’m stressed and busy. But, I don’t want to blow my last shot at success and wish
I’d done B2B insems. On the other hand, if I just do one, I get to combine the vials and have
extra-potent swimmers. I am so stressed. What should i do? Oh yeah, also, based on my CM, I
feel like I still have a day or so until the big O. What should I do? Thanks

Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:

Well, from what I read and if I am understanding you right, then I would say do the back to back
insems. This way you will have some sperm in there before the egg is released and some fresh
ones in there after the egg is releasaed. Good luck.

Linda asks…

                                                                                               3/6
Is 33mm follicle too large? Is it too mature?
Hello, I am 35 yrs old and have been trying to get pregnant for 2 yrs. I have taken clomid for the
first time ds 5-9 and had lh surge on day 14 and was given a HCG that morning and IUI the
next moring. The u/s on day 14 showed 3 follicles one 33 mm, 11mm on right side and 16 mm
on left side. I heard that the follicles grow about 2mm per day so the 16 shoud be mature by
ovulation time. I just don’t know what to make of the 33 mm follicle? Can it still rapture and
release an egg?

Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:

Wow that’s too large. They usually pop right at 20mm. I don’t know what happens at 30+. I
would ask the doctor. But 20mm is considered mature.

Good luck.

Lizzie asks…

Am I finally pregnant ?
I got insemanted on July 5th my husbands sperm count was 44 million and I had 2 maturing
follicles which the doc said looked very good (I took femera and it worked yayyy) on July 2nd
and I also took the HCG shot the morning I got my LH surge (July 4th) . But my breast always
get sore every month after I ovulate and this month they did not get the least bit sore ? Could

                                                                                            4/6
that mean anything ? I have alot of hope that I am pregnant but at the same time I have doubt
because I hve been let down so many times ? How sucessful is IUI the first time and would you
say I have a good chance ? I find out on Monday please keep me in your prayers ! Please give
me some IUI sucess stories .. Thanks

Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:

Sounds like it might of worked this time. Just try and keep busy and your mind occupied until
Monday. Good luck.

Carol asks…

Bleeding around ovulation?
I’ve been TTC for over 3 years. I’ve done Clomid 5 times, 2 with IUI, no success. I was told I
had to do IVF. I switched to another RE who wasn’t convinced I needed IVF since my cycles
seemed pretty regular. On CD 12 the US showed a 24 mm follicle. They drew blood to see if I
had an LH surge, which I didn’t so I triggered tonight and will do IUI on Monday. Now I’m
getting paranoid because now my cervical mucus is tinged with blood and I’m worried if I
actually might have ovulated on my own. I bought an OPK and they’ve been negative. What
else could cause blood tinged CM near ovulation if I’m not supposed to have ovulated yet?

                                                                                           5/6
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:

From my experience, bloody mucous is pretty common when the egg ruptures from the follicle.
If you have thicker tissue (for the egg to “pop” through), it’s a membrane so like 1st time sex,
when it ruptures there could be spotting.

                                   Hope this helps.
