2. Conventional sounds: We used sounds to fit each scene whether to create tension or fear during
the flashbacks to create suspense. The sounds used :’The Fear’. second part of the sound : ‘Slender
Man’. Third sound ‘Scary dream’ is played over conversation. At the end to create suspense ‘Metal
Plate’ is played backwards slightly.
Camera Angles/Shots: We used a number of shots to create the cut. They include establishing
shots, over the shoulder shot which you can see in the end of the final cut. Close up of her
eyes, wide shot of the figure, mid-shot ,longshot ,point of view shot. We used these shots to create
suspense as that’s what our thriller is about.
Mise en scene: casual clothing was used and dark clothing. Also the counsellor wears black to show
the dark depressed atmosphere. Setting: based in a school, counsellor office. Lighting is varied as
most is neutral throughout, but when the particular scenes come through such as the dark figure
its dark but the spotlight is placed on Jane to show her fear.
Dialogue and script: its clear and understandable script and dialogue fit for the genre of thriller.
As it explains her trauma of her own version of herself, and it makes the audience puzzled as they
don’t know that Imogen is the version of Jane.
Editing: filmed many shots like POV, edited then edit the right sounds for each flashback. And cut
the scenes to not exceed over.

3. Developed and challenged
Titles: We took inspiration from ‘Carrie’ and we really liked the font. The idea of layering and revealing the
font making it fit with the whole thriller genre. And our aim was to have a unique font.
Editing/flashbacks(sequence): we experienced challenges to get the right flashback with the right POV shots
as It didn’t correspond to her walking up the stairs, achieving her right eye line. We had to edit to achieve the
right sequences, such as filters, timings and cutting.
Order of titles: We had to choose the right order of titles by editing and placing it in the right scenes. Such as
name titles, and we chose number of titles to see which fits, the main title e.g. Jane
4. - We aim to meet our audience expectations by achieving the right scenes to fit the correct genre
and to make them enjoy it and get positive feedback.
- Managed the right focus on the camera to achieve best results.
- To get the right sounds to fit the genre, e.g. to get the audience scared. Tense sounds.
- Correct Mise en scene. E.g. right clothing all the way through. Lighting: neither make it too dark
or too light but neutral. Different settings: to fasten the pace and make it interesting ,followed
by good effects.
- we looked at various films to have inspiration to achieve the right storyline to centre our film
from films such as ‘insomnia’ and other disturbing films that fit our genre.
- Goof narrative all the way through so the audience don’t feel like they're on a cliff-hanger too
much, and its understandable.
