ECONOMIC UPDATES
 NITI Aayog: PM Narendra Modi appoints 10 members, Arvind Panagariya,
a free-market economist who teaches at Columbia University in the US,
was appointed on Monday as the first Vice Chairman of the newly-created
NITI Aayog along with six members and three special invitees.
 Maharashtra Govt launches drive to curb land speculation in industrial
zones. Serves over 300 notices to reacquire lands not used for industrial
purpose within stipulated time period.
SEBI/CORPORATE UPDATES
 Ties between former partners NTT DoCoMo and Tata Sons seem to have
touched a new low, with the Japanese company threatening to foreclose
Tata Sons’ assets if the Tatas fail to honour a commitment to buy back its
26.5 per cent stake in Tata Teleservices. On Saturday, DoCoMo moved the
London Court of International Arbitration against Tata Sons for failure to
honour the buy-back agreement.
 ICAI has extended the last date for complying with the CPE hours
requirement for the Calendar Year 2014 from 31st December, 2014 to 31st
March, 2015.
 SEBI proposes curbs on wilful defaulters. It proposed a ban on public issue
of equity securities, debt securities and non-convertible redeemable
preference shares by entities so listed by the central bank. Also,
restrictions on making open offers of shares.
RBI / TAX LAW UPDATES
 Govt. notifies certain institutions and their eligible schemes for the
purpose of deduction under Sec. 35AC.
 Notification No. 01 /2015-Customs (ADD) dated 5th January, 2015 issued
by CBEC regarding Anti dumping duty on imports of Synchronous Digital
Hierarchy transmission equipment, originated in or exported, from China
PR and Israel falling under sub-heading 851762 or 8517 70.
 Notification No- 01/2015-Customs-Tariff dated 5th of January, 2015 issued
by CBEC Seeks to amend Notification No. 10/2008-Customs, dated the
15th January, 2008
