3. Meenakshi a girl from Palwal village. Her father was
passed away in a road accident and Savita( mother ) lost
her one hand and leg in a rail accident so their financial
condition was very bad family income was only rs.750 that
was from the pension of Meenakshi’s father.
Meenakshi got married with Deepak a boy from faridabad.
Deepak’s family demanded bike and 50,000 cash from her
mother saying that deepak wants to start a new bussiness
but Savita’s financial condition was bad ,so deepak’s
family agreed into 25,ooo.
4. Upset Meenakshi came home and informed
her Mother about the torture that her
Husband's family was giving her from since
past several months.
Savita said Meenakshi to go back to
deepak’s home because of society’s fear.
Again deepak’s parent asked for money and
bike but Savita failed to give them.
5. One fine day, Savita got a call and she was informed by
Deepak’s father that Meenakshi had accidently burn her body.
Deepak’s family admitted Meenakshi’s in AIIMS hospital and
left her there alone
When Meenakshi’s uncle called Deepak he told that she was cooking
in the kitchen and caught by fire and said that he is breaking all his
relation with Meenakshi.
This does not go too well with Savita and thus she decided to
file a police complaint against Deepak’s family ,but police
denied to complaint the FIR because of no real evidence.
95% of Meenakshi's body was burnt.
6. A worker from NCW helped Savita. Meenakshi
before her death gave her statement to police
what was happened with her and how deepak’s
family burnt her alive for dowry.
NGO worker reveals cops that it's a clear case
of Dowry and there is a need for action.
Under sec 498A police arrested Deepak’s
family but Deepak’s mother and uncle got bail
on medical grounds but father and boy is still
in custody and case still in court
7. Sec-498A. Husband or relative of husband of a
woman subjecting her to cruelty.-- Whoever,
being the husband or the relative of the
husband of a woman, subjects such woman to
cruelty shall be punished with imprisonment
for a term which may extend to three years and
shall also be liable to fine.
