our life/walk (application).

5. Christians Are!
• Free From The Law;
• Rom 8:1-2 Therefore, there is now no
condemnation for those who are in Christ
Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law
of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of
sin and death.
• Dead To The Law;
• Gal 2:19 For through the law I died to the law
so that I might live for God.

7. Christians Are!
• Released From The Law;
• Rom 7:6 But now, by dying to what once bound us,
we have been released from the law so that we
serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the
old way of the written code.
• Because, Christ Is The End Of The Law;
• Rom 10:4 Christ is the end of the law so that there
may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

• Gal 3:24 “So then, the law was our
guardian until Christ came, in order that we
might be justified by faith. 25 But now that
faith has come, we are no longer under a
guardian,”

• Gal 4:7 So you are no longer a slave, but a son;
and since you are a son, God has made you also
an heir.
• Gal 4:31 So then, brethren, we are not children
of the bondwoman but of the free.

which Christ has made us free, and do not be
entangled again with a yoke of bondage.

What Enslaved You?
• . Galatians 5:1 It was for freedom that Christ
set us free; therefore keep standing firm
and do not be subject again to a yoke of
slavery.
• Gal 4:8 Formerly, when you did not know
God, you were enslaved to those that by
nature are not gods.
• There is no freedom except in Jesus Christ.
• Without Christ we are slaves to the world,
the flesh, and the devil.

were enslaved to those that by nature are not gods.
• 1John 2:16 For all that is in the world—the lust of
the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—
is not of the Father but is of the world.
• 1Cor 10:20 …the things which the Gentiles sacrifice
they sacrifice to demons and not to God…
• 1Tim 4:1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter
times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to
deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,

yoke of bondage.
• What “yoke of bondage”?
• Gal 2:12…he used to eat with the Gentiles…
• Gal 3:15…no one can set aside or add to a
human covenant...
• Gal 4:10 You are observing special days and
months and seasons and years!
• Gal 5:2 Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if
you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be
of no value to you at all.
• Religious bondage!

thinking our rules make us more
righteous than others?
• Circumcision?
• Baptism
• Sabbath keeping
• Vegetarianism
•Do our “rules of
bondage” cause
unbelievers to think
that Christianity is just a
set of rules?

18. Do Not Be Enslaved, Be Like Christ
• Mt 11:19 The Son of Man came eating
and drinking, and they say, 'Here is a
glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax
collectors and "sinners.“….
• Luke 7:39 When the Pharisee who had
invited him saw this, he said to himself, "If
this man were a prophet, he would know
who is touching him and what kind of
woman she is — that she is a sinner."

19. Do Not Be Enslaved, Be Like Christ
• John 2:8-10 Then he told them, "Now draw
some out and take it to the master of the
banquet." They did so, 9 and the master of
the banquet tasted the water that had been
turned into wine. He did not realize where it
had come from, though the servants who
had drawn the water knew. Then he called
the bridegroom aside 10 and said, "Everyone
brings out the choice wine first and then the
cheaper wine after the guests have had too
much to drink; but you have saved the best
till now."

• Luke 18:10-13 "Two men went up to the
temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the
other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood
up and prayed about himself: 'God, I thank
you that I am not like other men — robbers,
evildoers, adulterers — or even like this tax
collector. 12 I fast twice a week and give a
tenth of all I get.' 13 "But the tax collector
stood at a distance. He would not even look
up to heaven, but beat his breast and said,
'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.'

21. "Everything Is Permissible For Me"
• 1 Cor 6:12 "Everything is permissible for
me"-but not everything is beneficial.
"Everything is permissible for me"-but I
will not be mastered by anything.
• 1 Cor 10:23-24 "Everything is
permissible"-but not everything is
beneficial. "Everything is permissible"-but
not everything is constructive…

So, Seek The Good Of Others
• 1 Cor 10:24 Nobody should seek his own
good, but the good of others.
• Gal 5:6 For in Christ Jesus neither
circumcision nor uncircumcision has any
value. The only thing that counts is faith
expressing itself through love.

23. To The Weak I Became Weak
• 1 Co 9:19-23 Though I am free and belong to no
man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as
many as possible. 20 To the Jews I became like a
Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I
became like one under the law (though I myself am
not under the law), so as to win those under the
law. 21 To those not having the law I became like
one not having the law (though I am not free from
God's law but am under Christ's law), so as to win
those not having the law. 22 To the weak I became
weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to
all men so that by all possible means I might save
some. 23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel,
that I may share in its blessings.

• 1 Cor 9:21 …but under the law of
Christ…
•. Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit
of life in Christ Jesus has set you free
from the law of sin and of death.
•. Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of
the law for righteousness to everyone
who believes.
• . Galatians 6:2 Bear one another's
burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of
Christ.

seeking to be justified by law; you have
fallen from grace.

upmanship, cliques)
• Agapē —(with God as its source, it is never disordered;
elevates and correctly orders the other four loves, making
