• In 1981, seven engineers started Infosys Limited with just
US$250.Today, Infosys is a global leader in next-generation IT and
consulting, with revenues of US$7.4 billion.
• Infosys has a growing global presence with more than 158,000+
employees worldwide, across 73 offices and 94 development centers
in the United States, India, China, Australia, Japan, Middle East, and
Europe.

1981-1990 : CHANGING MINDSET ERA
• In 1981, led by N.R. Narayana Murthy, seven young professionals
started a small company in Pune, India. Infosys Consultants Pvt. Ltd.
began with just US $250, zero infrastructure and a dream to create
quality software.
• In 1983, Infosys decided to shift base from Pune to Bangalore.
• In the time customers in the US went home from work and returned
the next morning, a solution would be waiting them.The Global
Delivery Model (GDM) was born.

1991 – 1995 : THE EXPANSION
• Till 1989-90, 100 per cent of Infosys revenue came from
the US. Infosys needed to reduce its geographic risks and
europe offered a bigger market.
• Infosys made an initial public offer in february 1993 and
was listed on stock exchanges in India in june 1993.

1996 – 2000 : REALISING SOCIAL
RESPONSIBILITY

the “haves” to realize their social responsibilities towards the
less fortunate.” – Infosys Annual Report 1996-97
• The Infosys Foundation has supplied books to over 12,500
libraries in rural government schools across India. Its Library for
Every School initiative is one of the largest rural education
programs in India.

1996 – 2000 : INFY GOES GLOBAL
• In 1998, the theme of Infosys’ Strategy and Action Planning
event (STRAP) was Internationalization of Infosys.
• In March 1999, Infosys became the first India-registered
company to be listed on NASDAQ. It raised US $70.38
million through the issue of 2.07 million ADSs, under the
American Depositary Shares (ADS) program.

• Narayana Murthy was ranked 21st inTIME-CNN’s list of the 25 Most Influential
Global Executives of 2001.The only Indian executive in the list, he ranked
alongside power CEOs like Bill Gates,Warren Buffet and OprahWinfrey.
• In 2003 Infosys started its operations in China
• Infosys acquires Lodestone HoldingAG, a leading management consultancy
based in Switzerland. Forbes ranks Infosys among the world's most innovative
companies. Infosys among top 25 performers in Caring for Climate Initiative.
• In 2015, Infosys acquired NoahConsulting LLC, a leading provider of advanced
information management consulting services for the oil and gas industry.
• Infosys announces USD 250 million ‘Innovate in India Fund’ to support Indian
start-ups.
