2. Tian’anmen Square is one of the largest city center squares in
the world. It now stretches 880 meters form north to south and
500 meters for east to west, making for a total area of 440,000
square meters. That’s about the size of 60 soccer field, spacious
enough for half a million people to all stand on the square at
one time.
3. It is the place where some important activities and
ceremonies held. At the north part of it, the magnificent Gate
of Heavenly Peace is the symbol of the People`s Republic of
China.
It is a obviously starting point to visit Forbidden City,
Chairman Mao Zengdong Memorial Hall,the Monument to
People's Heroes, the Great Hall of the People, Natonal Grand
Therater and The Chinese History Museum.

congregate on the square to enjoy the cool breeze and catch
up on the neighborhood gossip.

8. Zhengyang Gate is located on the south-north axis of Beijing,
south of the Tian'anmen Square and north of Qianmen Street.
Now only the city tower and the embrasure watchtower are in
existence.
