About Wilkinson’s Wheels
Community. Contribution. Wellbeing.
Wilkinson’s Wheels has a vision to become an ethical, sustainable, social enterprise engaging our thriving
local community. Our thriving community space, workshop and bike shed are kindly hosted by Macedon
Nursery Garden Supplies, Macedon.
Our main purpose is to support and contribute to the local community and its wellbeing, aiming to achieve
this by using community-led resources to sustainably build skills to:
• Engage in training and outcomes based activities for all ages and abilities;
• Enhance mental, physical, environmental and community health capacity; and
• support local tourism,
two wheels at a time.

Short to mid-term outcomes
• Scale up the collection, fixing, activities and fund raising from recycled second hand bikes to
provide funds to grow and improve the business to return profits to the CFA.
• Continue to donate recycled bikes to the Macedon CFA fleamarket
• Create a model that can be picked up by other communities/CFAs.
• Establish a valuable community asset at the bike shed that can thrive through involvement from
all ages and abilities.
• Support the incubation of other community initiatives including hosting meetings, sharing ideas
and collaboration.

Wilkinson’s wheels – Strategic Plan 2018 0 2013 Page 5 of 7 Outcomes: Short to mid-term outcomes • Scale up the collection, fixing, activities and fund raising from recycled second hand bikes to provide funds to grow and improve the business to return profits to the CFA. • Continue to donate recycled bikes to the Macedon CFA fleamarket • Create a model that can be picked up by other communities/CFAs. • Establish a valuable community asset at the bike shed that can thrive through involvement from all ages and abilities. • Support the incubation of other community initiatives including hosting meetings, sharing ideas and collaboration. Long term outcomes: Encourage community involvement and improve environmental outcomes Enhance the range of outdoor activity options Promote and build the social capital of the community ü Create and implement an overall plan to recycle second hand bikes: • Collection • Cleaning and repair • Selling • Marketing • Planning • Artwork • workshop ü Create new facilities for cycling • Engage with local mountain bike group to create youth learner tracks in towns. • Partner with schools to create a beginners track at the school pine plantation and Middle Gulley. • Create a track around The Res, Macedon • Integrate proposed new paths in area for young riders ü Create a social enterprise and create jobs • Work with socially disadvantaged to teach them new skills in fixing bikes • Engage with the police • Engage with councils ü Open a bicycle working bee workshop – bike Shed ü Provide second hand bikes for use at schools ü Rail trails between towns ü Bike expeditions with local experienced riders ü Skills workshops on bike repairs ü Skills workshops for new mountain bike riders ü Partner with Bicycle Network, Primary Schools and local council to drive behaviour change with school children ü Improved cycling infrastructure • Bike racks • Bike tracks • Create signposted cycle pathways and maps to local mountain bike trails ü Donate fixed bikes to disadvantaged – eg refugees / low income
