4. The start of the Imitation game: Camera
At the very start of the movie the camera starts with a close up of the
main character, Alan Turing. Straight away in the first second of the movie
you can tell that the character is sad, stressed or upset and he looks down
and isn't showing any positivity. This gives the audience a feeling that it
won't be a happy and comedic film as your put right in the deep end with a
serious and depressed facial expression. The use of contrast of a dark room
and Alan turnings pale face could insist and hint too telling the audience
that the character is ill in some way and in his past done something wrong,
this getting him to feel how he does.
The camera then goes into a long shot of Alan Turing sitting at the
table. This tells the audience that there is about to be a story
unraveled and it is serious. This choice of setting shows that the
character is in trouble as he is in an in tweet room at a police
station.
5. The start of the Imitation game: Camera
This camera angle of a two- shot is the start of the story. This
automatically allows the audience who is in charge in this
situation and who is higher on the hierarchy.
The top shot camera angle is used to exaggerate the
amount of space this important character has in one room.
It shows the importance of the character and shows that he
is the highest on the heirachy, or maybe one of the top on
the scale.
6. Representations
This medium shot shows the importance of the character sitting
behind the desk. The use of the props (the books and a jug of
water) shows that he is in charge of an important group. This
shot shows that the representation of the job and importance of
the character.
This over the shoulder and two shot shows that there are
two important figures (police officers) trying to investigate
in Alan Turing. The uniform suggests that they are
important there career choice. This representation follows
the stereotype that men have powerful jobs and like to take
control.
