PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Linux/Java Certificate from Penn State (32.0 CEUs) 12/2001
SetFocus, LLC, Parsippany, NJ 1/2011 – 3/2011
SQL Master’s Program
The SetFocus SQL Server Master’s Program is an intensive, hands-on, project oriented program where participants gain
knowledge and valuable experience putting the SQL Server skill set to use in a simulated work environment.
Created numerous simple to complex queries involving self joins, correlated subqueries, CTE’s and XML techniques for
diverse business requirements. Tuned and optimized queries by altering database design, analyzing different query
options, and indexing strategies.
As part of a team, analyzed the business requirements and systematically designed a database for an online-movie
(DVD/Blu-Ray) rental company. Employed best practices in creating a complete schema including tables, relationships,
stored procedures, views, clustered and non-clustered indexes and triggers, and implemented the import and export of
data using XML and SSIS.
As part of a team, created various reports according to the business requirements for the movie rental company.
Individually authored, installed, deployed and managed reports using SSRS for a library database.
Individually designed a bank application according to business requirements, and implemented robust stored procedures,
functions, and triggers to implement required functionalities.
Created an ETL solution that reads Product, Vendor, and Order data from .CSV files on a network share into a SQL
Server database. The solution also validated incoming data and performed notifications when jobs complete. The order
data thus loaded into SQL Server was used to generate reports using the new SSRS 2008 reporting functionality
(including the Tablix control). The reports were set up for automatic delivery based on standard report subscriptions.

Balance Control Early Warning process was redesigned, documented, built and tested using shell and SQLPlus for Oracle, for part 1 of FDR to TSYS conversion. For conversion from FDR to TSYS assisted with Data Mapping and ERWIN diagrams. Converted existing processes to work with the TSYS platform. Assisted with User Acceptance Testing of converted processes as well as QA, also supported Integrated System Testing.(using shell and SQLPlus for Oracle) Assisted in helping Policy Risk Review process surpass the $1B mark for manual contingent liability removal in 2003. Helped monitor SONY conversion make sure everything is working properly after conversion. Full Lifecycle development of the High Risk Generic Queue process. Assisted with Hp to AIX move verify environment modify shell scripts as necessary. Collected Business requirements, design requirements, coded, tested and monitored post implementation of 3 High Risk control processes using shell, SQLPlus developed in SQL Navigator and C. Worked with the Design review board on implementation of new tables for processes, table design used the Bank One standard Naming convention. Researched and discovered a problem with Signature Card tagging leading to construction of 2 tables for use by our processes. GMIS, Inc., Malvern PA 1/1995 – 11/1995 Programmer/Analyst Determined which of 2 products would work best as a report viewer for the knowledge based reporting system. Saved client $1000 by determining system would work using one copy on UNIX versus multiple copies on PCs. Served on technical committee to recommend how to develop a new report product that would generate drill down reports based on data from a data warehouse. Was required to compare various reporting packages for use. Based on our needs Cognos report software seemed best. Upgraded the Excel charting macro used in ICAS product to include 15 additional charts and alter their appearance. This upgrade was included in the next release of the software. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Linux/Java Certificate from Penn State (32.0 CEUs) 12/2001 SetFocus, LLC, Parsippany, NJ 1/2011 – 3/2011 SQL Master’s Program The SetFocus SQL Server Master’s Program is an intensive, hands-on, project oriented program where participants gain knowledge and valuable experience putting the SQL Server skill set to use in a simulated work environment. Created numerous simple to complex queries involving self joins, correlated subqueries, CTE’s and XML techniques for diverse business requirements. Tuned and optimized queries by altering database design, analyzing different query options, and indexing strategies. As part of a team, analyzed the business requirements and systematically designed a database for an online-movie (DVD/Blu-Ray) rental company. Employed best practices in creating a complete schema including tables, relationships, stored procedures, views, clustered and non-clustered indexes and triggers, and implemented the import and export of data using XML and SSIS. As part of a team, created various reports according to the business requirements for the movie rental company. Individually authored, installed, deployed and managed reports using SSRS for a library database. Individually designed a bank application according to business requirements, and implemented robust stored procedures, functions, and triggers to implement required functionalities. Created an ETL solution that reads Product, Vendor, and Order data from .CSV files on a network share into a SQL Server database. The solution also validated incoming data and performed notifications when jobs complete. The order data thus loaded into SQL Server was used to generate reports using the new SSRS 2008 reporting functionality (including the Tablix control). The reports were set up for automatic delivery based on standard report subscriptions. Link to sample code portfolio http://slidesha.re/R32NVD
