Five Innovation Lessons
Innovation requires perspiration as well as inspiration. Innovation is not
finished once you have a flip chart of ideas from a brainstorm. Idea
development and execution are more important than generation
Innovation disrupts – Punk Rock offers us insights into what NOT to do
as well as what to do in this respect. Keep it simple, and short for busy
Generation Y people
Innovation tools increase the speed and effectiveness of idea
generation and development. A repertoire of reliable innovation tools
is needed if you are to be skilled in the art and discipline
Innovators must learn to collaborate virtually and in real time with
‘mice’ and ‘elephants’. They can learn from Lady Gaga, Deep Purple in
this respect. They must learn to manage difference and conflict
The 5 I’s : Innovation needs Insight and Information but it also needs
Intuition and Imagination. Fender learned this lesson. Pfizer did not
with Exubera to their massive cost
