Future Gazing : July - Aug 2020
The psycho-socio-economic climate in UK plc
• The UK will be in a state of “collective PTSD”, akin to after a major war
• Between 70 000 and 150 000 Corona related deaths, depending on how you count
• Economic disaster in progress will bite hard, as L-shaped recession accelerates
• We will have social dystopia spurred on by fruit and veg shortages, depression and
fear of proximity and socialisation
• Political stasis but … An opposition is beginning to show its teeth
… and then Boris says “Let’s Get Brexit Done” … how will that play?

Rage Against Brexit – Our aims
To develop a professional grassroots group with one aim : To Stop Brexit by all reasonable means. This
embraces Revoke, Rejoin, Reform, Reframe and Renew.
Our movement will be popular but not populist, reaching across the binary two party system.
We are non-politically aligned but may campaign in local and national elections to leaven the two-
party system in ways that fundamentally encourage better politics and politicians. The one thing that
has been missing from politics has been an effective opposition.
We seek to unblock parliamentary paralysis, take back control of populist media and develop much
better reach into social media, all with the aim of breaking the deadlock of “dead cat” Brexit politics.
We are non-competitive with the remaining national movements such as European Movement but
more edgy to reach our target communities in ways that the long term organisations are unable to do.
Our purpose will be complete when Brexit is overturned along with the Brexit culture carriers.

Messages we convey
“This is the worst time in history to Brexit”
Corona gives us a realistic preview of Brexit : Where toilet rolls
are currency, Chicken drumsticks are traded in dark alleyways
and Pampers are on their third use
“We lost … Let’s get on with No Deal” … and wait for the chaos
Help people solve the mathematical equation:
Corona crisis + Brexit disaster = Britastrophe

Communication Strategies
We target four areas all with the aim of breaking the deadlock of “dead cat” Brexit
politics:
1. Breaking Parliamentary Paralysis – via lobbying MPs using a variety of means
2. “Taking Back Control” of populist media via press and media activity in national
and local print / radio and TV media
3. Develop much better reach into social media, in terms of honesty, depth of
penetration and reach outside the Remain bubble
4. Changing minds on Brexit via 1:1 “Brexorcisms” and / or en masse via online
leaders debates and other grassroots strategies

A short-term time-limited project
We plan to storm populist media in w/c Friday June 14 with our battle song ‘Alo Vera –
Brexit’s Comin’ ‘Ome – a time limited project of one week to put an anti-Brexit song
into the UK charts which will allow us to gain nationwide coverage on our messages.
To do this we need an army of people to download and share the song on Apple Music,
iTunes, Amazon Music, Google Play etc. We need something like 80 000 downloads to
penetrate the UK Top 40.
To reach into the hearts and minds of Brexiteers we’ll need mass marketing and downloading of
the song to chart it. Last time we did this, we reached Number 1 on Amazon but not the official
Top 40. This will enable us to mainstream the point that Corona + Brexit = Britastrophe.
We have timed the release to coincide with the “anti-climax” of Brexit negotiations. Proceeds
will go to The European Movement and to pump prime our own movement. More details to
follow.

Our capabilities
We have a core group of nearly 100 highly skilled people
already working on the project. They cover people from
heavy industry, the NHS, pharmaceuticals, academia, the
army, politics, media and many other areas.
We ask people to leave their party politics at the front door in
order to focus on the goal of stopping Brexit by any means.
Bipolar politics has only made the world worse and it’s time
to wake up and seek better alternatives to binary thinking on
chronic conditions in the world.

Possible Brexit outcomes 2020-2021
• No Deal + Corona – possibly the quickest way to end Brexit
• No Brexit – since Brexit is a political process rather than a
legal one, it’s perfectly possible to stop it with an “e-mail”,
if the political will existed – we can affect the political will
• Delay – possibly the most pragmatic option, yet leavers
have successfully foiled all attempts to delay hitherto – we
must ensure that a delay is long, lasting and leavens
remaining sources of populism and their power bases

FAQ’s
Isn’t Brexit already done? A piece of paper was signed.
We have had our “Chamberlain moment” on 31.01 plus some time spent in a gulag (fridge). But Brexit is a political process and
the law is merely a servant to the politicians. Just think of one occasion when the Government obeyed the rule of law in the last
four years or other precedents e.g. Gina Miller’s Supreme Court Case, The Cooper No Deal amendment, Pro-rogation, the 6 million
petition and so on. If political will changed, the law would be made to fit the circumstances.
Is it too late? We are about to finalise things in June?
There are clearly moves to institute delay. Johnson may instigate one at the final hour per his many other U turns … die in ditches,
Halloween etc. The EU may also downgrade the importance of Brexit leading to fudge June may present a false ending to the
story. In any case there is still the rest of the year to introduce twists in the road. This slide outlines the state of UK very soon.
Oh, no, not another anti Brexit movement?
Our difference comes from the fact that we will be more direct than professional politicians, outsmarting Nigel Farage at his own
game. We will also rely more on professionals in their field rather than volunteers. This will give us the edge. At the same time
we will collaborate with other pro EU and anti-Brexit groups across the board acting to amplify their efforts. Despite best efforts
of grass roots EU organisations, much of our work has suffered from “initiative constipation” – see Brexit Futures for more insights
on this.
