Morocco has a diverse and unique mix of cultures. It has Arabic, French,
Spanish influences that blend to produce one beautiful way of life. The
people of this area are called Berbers or Amazigh. Moroccans speak a dialect
of Arabic known as Darija.
Moroccans just love their celebrations. One of the major events that bring
Moroccans together is the famous moussems which are festive religious
events. Essaouira Gnaouas festival is also highly recommended. These

Islam is the official state religion, and the vast majority of Moroccans are
Sunni Muslims of the Maliki rite. Moroccan law allows freedom of religion.
Only a few non-Muslims reside in the country.

Jewish community has dwindled to a few thousand. Officially, 99% of the
population are Muslims, and virtually all of those are Sunni Muslims.
Music and Dance

Gnawa, Malhun, Rai, and Sufi music.
It is different and diverse from one region to another and differs according
to social groupings. Music is influenced by different music styles like the
Arab, Mediterranean, West Africa, and other music styles.
Sport
Morocco is a well-known footballing nation, having qualified for the World
Cups and Africa Cup of Nations finals several times. The Moroccan soccer
team is one of the African powerhouses when it comes to football. Other
sports codes include handball, golf, tennis, basketball, and athletics. Morocco
won 2 gold medals 2004 at the summer Olympics.
Clothing
Clothing is an important part of Moroccan etiquette. Moroccan are very
particular when it comes to clothing. Moroccans emphasize a lot on clothes
that cover parts of the body considered as private. Most Moroccans are
Muslim and are a bit strict on the dressing. Both women and men are not
encouraged to wear clothes that are above the knees.
Customs
Moroccans are extremely hospitable and religious people. They are very
conservative people and observe their culture to the fullest. Moroccan
customs do not allow wearing clothes above the knees, kissing in public,
eating in the open during Ramadan.
