1. TV Trends and Development in 2014

Recently at the CES conference in Las Vegas, NV television manufacturers biggest
names decided what is next in 2014 for the next big development in TV. 2013 saw
lows like the 3D television that was highly promoted over the last three years. It
also saw wonderful and affordable products like Chromecast from Google.
With the 3D television a major sell for three years at the conference there is a new
tactic by many as what will be “the next big thing.” The flat screen has been a staple
at the event and in the homes of millions of Americans. Why? A flat screen takes up
a lot less space than the conventional and can be hung on a wall. It also has the
advantage on 3D TVs because you don’t have to wear glasses.
So what happens when the flat screen isn’t enough?

What has experts thinking that the curved screen can be a better development than
3D? Multiple reasons. For one the curve screen helps prevent glare. No more
worrying about closing the blinds just to turn on the news. It also helps visibility in
crowded rooms.
Say you are watching the World Series with a large group of people. Those sitting
on the sides may have gotten poor viewing quality with a flat screen but with a
curved screen that is no longer a problem.
LG and Samsung have bought into the idea. Both are producing over 100 inch
curved screens at this moment. Samsung is also rumored to have a prototype that
can be flat or curved. The prototype is thought by most to be 85 inches.
With glare prevention and better viewing for those on the side of large groups
Samsung, LG and others believe that the curved TV will catch on because of the
immersive quality it has that makes it feel like watching at home is similar to being
ina theater or IMAX.
We will have to wait and see if the new trend will be as popular as Chromecast or as
big of a flop as 3D.
