Location – Tuscany, Massa Marittima Mural - Medieval Mural and its tale of Witches The painting is seven meters high also was found under layers of subsequent over-painting next to a fountain in the centre of Massa Marittima. 13 th century mural discovered on August 6th, 2000, at Massa Marittima, a town south-west of Siena. The painting shows a tall, spreading tree with two groups of women standing below it. The first thing that was noticed about the tree was its unusual "fruit," which is apparently sprouting from the branches as twenty 5th phalluses. The purpose of this mural is to show the future generation about how witches were portrayed in the 13 th century There are two groups of witches. One of the groups are distorting the bird nests and the other group of witches are fighting over the fruit from the tree
2. Location - St Mary the Virgin Church, Dover Mural - Medieval Mural The purpose of this mural is to tell the story of the birth of Jesus. This means a lot to Christians as some of them believe that Jesus is the son of God The colours that are used are very dreamy colours and not vibrant. This is because in the medieval period dark colours were not often used in their murals The mural stands out and there are no bright attraction colours in the church. This is because the whole focus is on the mural about the story of Jesus the light on the mural is only on the angel(s), marry and Jesus. This is because they are the main important features of the mural.
