Technology and Tools:
The Europeans introduced the Native Americans to many new hunting
and fishing tool. This improved their way of life.
Trade:
Some Native American tribes were able to peacefully trade fur for goods
and food.
4. Negative Impacts
Spread of Disease:
When the European immigrants came to North America, they brought many diseases. Native
Americans were not used to the diseases. As a result, many Native Americans got sick and
died.
Loss of Homes:
Europeans wanted to claim the land as their own. Sometimes, Native Americans were forced
out of their own homes. Eventually, Native Americans were given small pieces of land
called Reservations to live on.
Loss of Culture:
European immigrants believed that the Native Americans should have the same beliefs, and
practice the same traditions. As a result, many Native Americans were captured as slaves
and their freedom was taken from them..
Loss of Food:
Europeans brought animals such as pigs, cows, and chickens with them to North America. They
let their animals roam freely. Many Native American crops were eaten by these new
animals.
