What are the characteristics of a river?

The characteristics of a river are they contain
fresh water, have a beginning and an end and
   they flow downhill (constant motion).
smaller larger
Fresh Water than an Salt Water than a
              ocean river

What are the differences between a river
 and an ocean?
Rivers are different from oceans in two
ways. First, oceans are much bigger than
rivers. Second, oceans are salty, rivers are
         not.
How do rivers begin and end?
Rivers begin in lakes, start from
underground streams, or are caused by
heavy rains or melting snow. Rivers end in
another body of water - a lake, ocean, or
another river - or become underground
 streams.
How do rivers change the shape
of a valley?
Rivers change the shape of a valley by
constantly carving away at the land. Over
the years, a steep, narrow valley will be
carved away to become a deeper, wider
valley.
How can a flood bring good
things to people?
A flood can bring rich soil into an area, which
helps crops grow better.
