4. Introduction
This presentation looks at major policy areas that Justin Trudeau had in his 2015
election platform. This presentation does not look at small promises that may
have been kept.
6. Economy and the Liberals
from the heart outwards
Economies
do not grow
from the
heart
GDP has many facets to it.
Government cannot take full
credit for GDP. All
government can do is set
policies that encourage
consumer spending and
business investment.

2015 is that Trudeau has been

17. Rebuttal #1 – Surplus/(Deficits)
http://globalnews.ca/news/3739447/liberals-deficit-path-bill-
morneau/?utm_source=GlobalNews&utm_medium=Facebook
I am not surprised with this comment as the Liberals expenses are growing about 2x times faster than the
growth of GDP. Here is my surplus/deficit calculation - https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/canada-
cpc-and-liberals-surplus-debate. Yet if Harper did the same thing in terms of spending and deficits then
the left would have crucified him. So, why does PM Selfie get a free pass?
Secondly, the economy is projected to grow at slower rate in 2018 and beyond, why? Federal government
is pushing national carbon tax starting in 2018. The carbon tax will take money out of the economy -
http://business.financialpost.com/commodities/energy/ottawas-carbon-tax-plan-to-shrink-economy-by-
3-billion-hurt-loonie-in-2018-study. The adjustment is small, but it was shave a point or two off GDP.
Canada is also seeing correction in areas like manufacturing, construction, energy and utility sector.
Thirdly, GDP is project to drop back down to 1.9% to 2.2 range
https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/gdp-outlook-canada-and-the-world-september-8-2017 - see
slide 3 which shows you that Trudeau growth is same Harper was achieving post 2008-2009 recession.

19. Environment
In 2014 is when Canada was ranked 24th in the world when it came to sustainability including the environment. The Liberals took office in 2015 as such
the ranking for Canada is now 25 when it comes to sustainability. So, where are all these improvements to the environment? There are none! All the LPC
did was keep the same policies with one exception that is imposing a carbon tax on all provinces. Yet carbon taxes have been a failure. Australia yanked
the carbon tax as they were too punitive to the economy and did nothing for global emissions - http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/australia-s-carbon-tax-

20. Open and
Transparent
Government
One of key to strong government is ensuring the integrity of government is protecting.
Government’s role is to serve the people in terms of supporting social programs.
Trudeau said he would be more open and transparent with his government and that has not been
the case
Election Promise 2015 - https://www.liberal.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/a-fair-and-
open-government.pdf
Key Quote
“Let's dispel once and for all with this fiction — to borrow a mangled phrase from a dear departed
Republican primary candidate — that the Liberal Party has brought transparency to the Canadian
government. The Liberal Party has not brought transparency to the Canadian government.
We have known this for some time. Justin Trudeau's star cabinet ministers have made fatuous non-
answers the unofficial lullaby of most press conferences and question periods.
Want to know why the Liberals abandoned electoral reform? Well, here are some platitudes about the
value of diverse voices in our democracy. How closely will the government be involved in its
supposedly arms-length multibillion-dollar infrastructure bank? Uh … can I interest you in some banal
remarks about building up the middle class? How about quotes about investing in Canadians' future? –

welcome you, regardless of your faith. Diversity is our
strength #WelcomeToCanada. The ironic thing is that Trudeau did not bring

action. http://www.nationalreview.com/article/450288/angela-merkel-

24. Foreign Affairs
Prime Minister and presidents speak to their
counterparts around the world. Many
presidents and prime ministers won’t agree
with each other on policy, but you need to
respect each leaders position
There is pattern with Trudeau that is world
does not view Trudeau as heavyweight, but a
lightweight
Trudeau maybe a fan with citizens of various
countries, but not leadership.
Trudeau has been called out many times for his
nonsensical statements.

25. Cost of Marijuana
Marijuana legalization can lead to the following issues
More programs to support addiction (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=likKBDWyAB4)
More programs to help the mentally ill
Drug-testing for employers. Marijuana is like alcohol as such it does impair your ability to operate
heavy machinery and equipment.
Police detect devices for drug impaired drivers. How will drug impaired be charged under the criminal
code?
How will laws be reformed? How long will take it to changed the laws?
How will the government enforce and collect taxes on marijuana growing operations, i.e. excise taxes,
HST, income tax, etc.?
http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/pot-mclellan-cost-of-
legalization-1.3758981
Taxes on legal marijuana could add up to billions of dollars a year, but before that happens Canadians may have to make peace with
spending to legalize pot. "People — and I think the provinces, the territories and the government of Canada understand this — do not expect
big revenues in the early years," Anne McLellan, the head of Canada's marijuana legalization and regulation task force, told CBC News.
"In fact, there are going to be up-front costs that governments at all levels are going to have to absorb."
Hint: Any new government program will have sunk costs of front as part of the initial setup. There will be ongoing cost to support the
program. It is too early to say what those costs will be to government. It is safe bet to say it will not be a complete windfall for the
government when it comes to revenue

27. Marijuana Market / Size
A legal market for recreational marijuana could give Canada’s economy a boost of up to $22.6 billion
annually, says a new study from business services firm Deloitte.
The study estimates that marijuana sales, even initially, would be at least as large as hard liquor sales in
Canada, at around $5 billion annually, but could be as large as $8.7 billion, making them as large as wine
sales.
The total impact for Canada’s economy from a legal weed market — including growing and distribution,
pot paraphernalia, increased tourism and business taxes — would amount to between $12.7 billion to
$22.6 billion annually.
The actual number will depend on how the government decides to regulate marijuana, and what price
standards it sets, Deloitte says. Those are decisions the federal Liberals plan to announce next spring.
Canada's pharmaceutical industry has been lobbying to be admitted to the marijuana game when it's
legalized. Shoppers Drug Mart, owned by Loblaw Co., announced earlier this week it has applied to be a
medical marijuana distributor, a move likely preceding an expansion into recreational marijuana

I have never seen a government so out of touch when it comes to creating policies that will encourage FDI.
Farmers are already tax to death thanks to Morneau’s new tax policies - https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/2019-election-
small-business-canada-july-2019
AG Sector - https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/2019-election-farm-and-agricultural-sector-canada-may-2019
There are reasons temporary workers are brought in for the ag sector as people do not want to work in those sectors.
Liberals love throwing money at the symptoms as it is easy thing to do, especially when you have no clue how to shape employment
policies - https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/2019-election-human-capital-and-skills-management-june-2019
31. Skill Trade and Innovation

Competitiveness

35. Infrastructure
@justintrudeau said there would emphasis on infrastructure through different funding like the infrastructure bank. The problem is the
infrastructure bank has done little in terms of getting projects off the ground. Trudeau is also fighting with SK and ON -
https://globalnews.ca/news/5757637/feds-approve-infrastructure-dispute-saskatchewan-government/ or

36. Clean Technology
Who would be better on supporting Clean Technology:
1. @justintrudeau continues to Ontario’s FIT policies on to the provinces
2. @andrewscheer who wants to encourage more businesses to adopt clean technology as part of reducing the CO2
emissions – source - https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/truth-about-emissions-and-carbon-pricing
37. First Nations

caucus-1.5080880 along with removing the F/S filing
38. Municipalities
Who is better for municipal government?
@justintrudeau decided that best way to fund projects was via the infrastructure bank -
https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-will-the-35-billion-canada-infrastructure-bank-survive-the-election/
or Trudeau has not deliver on social housing commitments - https://www.guelphtoday.com/local-news/lack-of-funding-

41. Foreign Relations
https://globalnews.ca/news/5431727/china-canada-ban-meat-exports/
@justintrudeau has made a disaster of foreign policies as such exports are now being hammered by his poor leadership:

Pitts is stating the obvious, but the problem is Trudeau has zero or little respect around the world. Trudeau decided to use foreign affairs to pander for votes in
Canada. The problem is Trudeau does not seem to care if foreign relations are in the toilet.
Trudeau has used foreign policies to pander for votes. Trudeau could care less what relations Canada has with the rest of the world if he gets both a UN seat and re-
elected as the PM!

We owe SK as well. We need to the west to be strong. Trudeau thinks Canada should be known for its resourcefulness not its resources.
It is resources that play a big role into funding of social programs
@SohiAmarjeet
Can you explain to rest of Canada to why USA oil sector is booming, and Canada’s oil sector has struggled?
Trump reduced taxes and regulations, right? You went the opposite direction, right? You added a carbon tax and

@justintrudeau has done little to support the manufacturing sector other than hand out moneys!
@Andrewscheer was part of many CPC government that introduced many programs that supported MFG, like capital cost
allowance write-downs,

@PattyHajdu
you never once look at balance when you push your policies related to COVID19 You do not even have a road
map for the economy and yet you want to bring in the Emergency Act
https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/post-covid19-canada
Is it me or MSM finally starting to realize that we have poor leadership under @JustinTrudeau
Harper would have consulted the provinces including a road map for the economy. Trudeau hides out in his
cottage and dictates how he will run the country!
Who failures - https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/whats-next-for-who-world-health-organization
49. Summary
Canada GDP is struggling to get above 2% for 2018.
Canada GDP has big gap between growth that with
the USA.

Trudeau is facing more and more pressure when it
comes to carbon tax. Doug Ford has repealed the
carbon tax in Ontario. In 2019 when AB likely votes
out the NDP then AB will also revoke the carbon
tax.
Trudeau is failing to secure major FIPA and Trade
deals as no one is interested in his social agenda.
Trudeau continues to put polls ahead of what is
best for Canadians.
Canada per capita income has fallen under
Trudeau. In 2014 is when Canada had one of the
highest GDP per capita -
