T h e   C o l o s s e u m
The colosseum of Rome is a great amphitheatre of the epoch of the roman empire. Is locate in the centre of the city of Rome in Italy. It is considered one of the greatest works of Roman architecture. Its construction started between 70 and 72 AD and was completed in 80 AD., down Mandate of the emperor Vespasiano. It was the biggest amphiteatre never constructed in the Roman Empire.
Constructed in the 1º century in the downtown of Rome. For his archtectural characteristics, condition of conservation and history, the Colisseum is one of the most famous monuments of the classic antiquity.
Capable of seating 50,000 spectators, with eighty rows of steps.Those who were near the sand Were the Emperor and the Senators, and as it was promoted the low strata  of the company were placing.
The Colisseum was used for almost 500 years. As well as you them fight  of gladiators, many other public spectacles took place here:  Mumaquis, hunt of animals, executions, recreations of famous battles and play of thetre based on the classic mythology.
The building stopped being used for these intentions in the High Middle Ages. Later, it was re-used as refuge, factory, headquarters of a religious order, strenght and qurry. From his ruins abundant material was extracted for the construction of other buildings, until it was turned into Christian sanctuary, in honor to the prisioners tortured during the first years of the Christianity. The measure helped to stop this pillage and to trying his conservation. Through the structure is seriously damaged due to the earthquakes, the colosseum always has been seen as an icon of the imperial rome and is one of the most popular tourist attractions of the modern Rome.
At present: In 1980, the USESCO declered the historical cebter of Rome, included the Colosseum, Heritage of the humanity. 4 from 2000, the authorities keep the building illuminated for 48 hours whenever in some place of the world  a death  sentence is exchanged or postpones to a reprobate. This monument of the classic Rome has been designates done of the New Seven Maravles of the world.
