4. o Photosynthesis can also be defined
as the process by which plants,
some bacteria and some
protestants use the energy from
sunlight to produce glucose from
carbon dioxide and water.
5. o The process of photosynthesis
takes place in the plant’s leaves.
It takes place in the chloroplast
of a plant.
6. o A chloroplast is a part in plants
which contains chlorophyll.
7. o A chlorophyll is a green pigment
found in all plants which is
responsible for absorption of light
to provide energy for
photosynthesis.
8. FACTORS THAT ARE NEEDED FOR
PHOTOSYNTHESIS:
o SUNLIGHT
o WATER
o CARBON DIOXIDE
o CHLOROPHYLL
9. HOW PHOTOSYNTHESIS TAKES PLACE:
o The chlorophyll absorbs the energy from sunlight.
o Water and carbon dioxide are brought into the leaf through
vessels.
o Water and carbon dioxide do not react until the energy
from sunlight is added to make the two react,
o The reaction results in oxygen and glucose.
o After reaction occurs, oxygen leaves the plant and glucose
is used for growth.
o The extra glucose is turned into starch and stored in the
leaf,
o When there is no sunlight and photosynthesis cannot occur.
12. CONCLUSION
o Photosynthesis needs sunlight, water, carbon
dioxide and chlorophyll to take place.
o Photosynthesis takes place in the chloroplast.
o Energy from sunlight causes water and carbon
dioxide to react.
