4. Why chapter 2?
1 Peter 2 was written to “Christian
warriors” who were tempted to
compromise and turn back to a less
offensive lifestyle and doctrine.
5. 1 Peter 2- “stone of stumbling”
“He will be as a sanctuary,
but also a stone of stumbling
and a rock of offense.”
Isaiah 8:14

Like the U.S. military,
Christians are guardians,
offending the wicked and
stumbling evil doers.

Malice: Intent to do evil
Deceit: Speaking partial,
less-offensive truth

Hypocrisy: Conduct out-of-
step with your beliefs.
Envying: Desirous to be like
God’s enemies

Evil speaking: Apologizing for,
or criticizing Christianity.

“Remove yourself from evil, that is,
speaking partial, less-offensive truth;
acting worldly in order to impress
people who love to hear you criticize the
Church and apologize for the Bible.”

As newborn babes: People who
are simple, innocent and pure.
As living stones: People who
offend and stumble evil doers.

to be God’s voice and His hands
during this time in human history.
Royal Priesthood: An extension to
minister God’s magnificence

Holy Nation: As a people you are
separate, set apart and without
compare.
Peculiar People: Strangely blessed with
God’s favor and grace… giving God
the credit for all the virtue you bestow.
