Are you in your mid 30s or 40s and love to connect with friends on Facebook? Well,
then try not to think much of skinny images that bombard your news feed or posts
as they might end up making you feel dissatisfied about your own body .According
to a new study by University of Auckland,women Facebook users have low body
satisfaction at around 30 years of age as compared to the ones who didn't use
Facebook.
The study group of more than 11,000 people was made up of 62.5% women and
37.5% men aged 18-years-plus, with a mean age of 49.23 years. They included both
Facebook users and non-users.
A m o n g women, 69% had a Facebook profile.
“Similar to women, men who use Facebook are less likely to feel satisfied with the
way they looked,“ doctoral candidate Samantha Stronge explained. “For women
around 18 years, Facebook use is simply a normative practice and, therefore, not
related to body satisfaction but more work needs to be done in this area,“ she
added.
