VU Overseas Examination System
Virtual University is running highly technical, fully web based
and advanced Overseas Examination System.
Designed for students studying in VU from abroad.
VU conducts its examinations in electronic mode i.e. a student
has to attempt all paper(s) on a computer.
Every student may set own date sheet i.e. date and time for
each of the papers. Thus, in practical terms, examination in all
the courses is held in every exam session.
Every student gets a unique paper, generated automatically
from a progressive ‘Question Bank’ i.e. pool of questions in
accordance with the paper criteria provided by the concerned
academic staff.

Student can appear from any where outside Pakistan where
there is the facility of stable internet connection and external
web cam.
Each student considers a separate entity. Invigilator has to
monitor and communicate with each student.

Login each Invigilator at http://www.exams.vu.edu.pk with Invigilator ID and Password

After Login, overseas Invigilation Interface show details of each exam and session.

When click on Show button, information of each student will appear on the interface.

Each Invigilator has specific number of students for
invigilation
Each student may login 15 minutes before the Exam
Details of each student appears in each Row.
Confirm the view of student according to prescribed View
Confirm the student’s identity according to the student’s
picture appearing against each student.
Check IP Address and Flag [Flag must not be Pakistan]
Mark attendance
Student can only start his/her paper unless his/her
attendance is marked.
Communicate with the student through Conversation

9. Remote Connection through Team
Viewer
Team Viewer is a software package for remote control,
desktop sharing, online meetings
Monitor paper on remote machine through team viewer.
To connect to another computer, Team Viewer has to be
running on both machines
When Team Viewer is started on a computer, it generates a
partner ID and password
To establish a connection from a local client to a remote
host machine, the local operator must communicate with
the remote operator, request the ID and password, then
enter these into the local Team Viewer
11. Find Location through IP Address
Students may appear from Pakistan. This can be checked by
various means
By checking his/her system’s IP Address appearing on the
interface against each student’s record
We can find the Country Name, country code, country flag
etc of any suspicious student by entering remote system IP
address on the following link
http://www.ip-adress.com/ip_tracer/80.174.150.227
Any student found appearing from Pakistan, his/her paper
immediately will be blocked due to the said reason.
12. Paper Blocking Concept
If a student during the exam found in any
type of cheating, his/her paper will be
blocked due to the said reason.
When the paper is blocked, student can not
further attempt his/her paper.
A UMC is filed against the student and will be
sent to COUM along with the evidence.

Overseas students may cheat in papers
There may be many means of Cheating.
Copying from pdf handouts
Copying from the internet sites (like Wikipedia, Google etc)
Making remote connection with any other client computer.
Part of any private network and using network resources in
paper (file sharing, peer to peer Connection)
Many other ways of cheating
15. Unfair Means Case
If a student found in any type of cheating
Take the snap shot of his/her screen
immediately as a proof and warn the student
If the student do the same thing again and
again, then take suitable no of snap shots and
block his/ her paper due to UMC reason
File the UMC case against the student that will
be sent to COUM along with the evidence
16. Technical issues &Trouble shooting
Various technical/Non- technical issues can appear during the exams
Problem
External Web cam not working OR not deducting
Solution
1) Confirm that Web cam is not using in any application other than
Exam software. If it ,then release the Cam resource from the external
application, so that exam software may use it
2) Flash player may corrupt and create problems. Install the latest
version
3) Disable all anti-virus software installed on remote machine
4) Turn Off Windows firewall in control Panel on remote machine
5) Set IE settings to default on remote machine
17. Technical issues &Trouble shooting
Problem
Conversation is not Synchronized (Invigilator ‘s message not
delivering to the student and vice versa)
Solution
Set the default language of the remote system as English (United
States) in the control Panel
Problem
Remote system may stuck (i.e. did not respond)
Solution
End Task the Exam Application on remote machine from Task Manager
and then restart the Exam Software
