Chapter 11, Section 5, Subsection 23, paragraph (a):
Except as provided in paragraphs (c) and (g) of this subsection, in order to
become certified as a Federal Firefighter, a candidate must successfully complete
New Federal Firefighter Basic Training within six months of being hired, and
must be recertified every five (5) years by attending Federal Firefighter
Recertification Training. Recertification must be accomplished prior to the sixth
anniversary of completion of either basic training or the employee’s last
recertification training, except that an employee attending recertification training
on said anniversary date will be given until the end of the course to complete
recertification.
Chapter 11, Section 5, Subsection 23, paragraph (c):
The recertification training requirement specified by paragraph (a) of this
subsection may be deferred by the commanding officer of a military installation
for a period not to exceed two (2) years for reasons of military exigency, lack of
funds, failure of Congress to approve a budget, or other sound management
reason.
