One of the marathons Dr. Ophir Alalouf has

in 1976, the Marine Corps Marathon is known as “The
People’s Marathon,” as it is open to the first 30,000
registered runners who are at least 14 years old. It is
the largest marathon that does not offer prize money.
3. The race is held in October just weeks before the
Marine Corps’ birthday in November. The course for
the race varies from year to year, but it generally starts
in Arlington, Virginia, and makes its way through
Washington, DC.
The marathon is run in conjunction with several other
events. The first is the Marine Corps 17.5K held in
April. Runners who complete this race earn a
guaranteed spot in the Marine Corps Marathon. The
marathon also sponsors 4- and 2-mile runs through a
course filled with mud pits and various obstacles every
June. Finally, before Thanksgiving each year, runners
can participate in the Turkey Trot 10K and Turkey Trot
Mile.
