Special Olympics Maryland participated in the annual Maryland Polar Bear Plunge at Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis on January 27-28, 2017. The event raises money for over 7,300 Special Olympics athletes in Maryland by having participants pledge at least $75 to jump into the chilly waters of the Chesapeake Bay. On the first day, there were plunges for police, military, and emergency responders throughout the day, as well as a 24-hour super plunge and a corporate plunge with happy hour at 5pm.
