This document provides an overview and agenda for the OpenNebulaConf 2017 EU conference. It discusses the growth of OpenNebula and private clouds over public clouds due to factors like security, cost and existing infrastructure. It highlights new features in OpenNebula like improved vCenter integration and disk resizing. The conference aims to educate attendees about cloud technologies through presentations from users and peers. Lightning talks and expert sessions are also announced.

Each zone can have 1 or more datacenters
Most datacenters house between 50K and 80K servers
A Fierce Competition to Grow Data Centers
The 4 big players house between 4 and 8 millions of servers
25%
This number is estimated to grow 25% annually (probably much
higher if we consider their 70% annual growth in revenues)

Public Cloud Is a Fraction of IT Infrastructure Market
Public Cloud represents a tiny fraction of existing data centers
3 million data centers only in the U.S. in 2013
Number datacenters growing, peaking at 8.6 M worldwide by 2017
Ø Public cloud
Ø Private cloud on-premises and off-premises
with hosting services, colocation or
managed hosting
Ø Traditional IT
IT Infrastructure Spending in
10 Years
Most enterprises, 68%, run
less than 20% of their
workloads in the cloud
9. Distributed Cloud Computing
1. PERFORMANCE
Latency and workload profile
Why Private Cloud?
3. COST
Many datacenters have sufficient scale to be able to do it cheaper themselves
2. SECURITY
Confidentiality & privacy
4. EXISTING INFRASTRUCTURE
Hardware, software and know-how
5. SPECIAL PURPOSE
Such as clouds for network function virtualization and edge computing
