                        ABSTRACT/ SUMMARY
This report is basically a response to the running of a business. We have determined by
conducting a research that whether we should adapt the new upcoming trend “Easy Paisa”,
introduced by the Telenor company, recently.

We were less towards the working on an existing research on the topic as the product and
service are newly introduced in the market and therefore not that much work has been done
respectively.

This report summarizes the point of views of the research sample, whom helped us also in
the research.

In a country like Pakistan, where even a small contribution from each individuals can pay a
vital role, there Easy Paisa can prove to be quite beneficial for the economy.

Most of the times we were the first to introduce the person about the new service. This made
our goal more striving, as we also need to inform the audience.

The flaw we faced while making the report was that we were unable to find the user of the
product. On inquiring, we came to know that as the service has recently launched so it would
take some time to get started in the market.

The analysis report is also a subject towards motivating us for acquiring a sponsorship of Easy
Paisa for our business.

We tend to start this work also and would also identify a central location for the office.

The focus of this service would mostly be towards low income groups as they are the one
mostly who pay their bills in banks and want to avoid going to a bank and even maintaining
an account.

The service would definitely pay a vital role indirectly for the economy thus giving more
employment opportunity and a market share to the Government.




                                    INTRODUCTION
The Scenario:

Apart from being a student, I as a owner and an entrepreneur of a multi-services business
named as “ONLINE-ZONE” are willing to expand our business, we deal in:

   •   Computers & mobiles/ High Tech Products
   •   Hardware and Software
   •   Sale and purchase of new and used
   •   Accessories
   •   Providing solutions


Within a progress of 3 months we have now formed another office just beside the previous one
and have separated the mobile stuff over there at the “Online Mobile Zone”. Here we also
provide all networks’ Easy-loads/Top-up and cards etc.

Offering such a service, which give us many other credentials for expanding our business, such
as Telenor Pakistan has recently launched its new product “Easy Paisa”. Easy paisa is a
branchless banking service activity, which is introduced for the first time in Pakistan and is
already existing in other parts of the world



The purpose/objective of the research project is to determine whether we should adapt the
new trend, by Telenor Easy Paisa and Decide how successful can we prove to be if we offer this
service.



For availing this service we need to first become an Easy paisa merchant, once done, then we
have access to:

   •   Financial services

   •   Branchless banking

   •   Billing (utility) and etc




                                   REVIEW OF LITERATURE
Telenor Pakistan has always been a pioneer in innovative services. For easypaisa, Telenor
Pakistan has partnered with Tameer Micro Finance Bank to introduce branchless banking for
the first time in Pakistan. The innovative product umbrella of easypaisa will give you complete
convenience and empowerment that you have always wanted in life.



Easypaisa is not just limited to Telenor subscribers; it’s available for all mobile users. In fact
people without mobile phones can equally enjoy our products. So now everyone can use the
services from anywhere and anytime.



Easypaisa is the easiest way to conduct your financial transactions whether they are related to
paying your utility bills, sending/receiving money within Pakistan, receiving money from abroad
etc. Currently easypaisa is starting with utility bill payments with many other products to be
available soon.



Easypaisa’s new products and services will make life more convenient for people all across
Pakistan. No longer do people have to travel long distances and wait in long queues at Post
Offices or Banks or be constrained by limited working hours. Any person can use easypaisa
services by visiting their nearest easypaisa authorized shop, Telenor Franchise, Telenor Sales &
Service Center or Tameer Microfinance Bank branch.



Without going through the hassle of opening a bank account, everyone can enjoy secure
branchless banking through easypaisa with instant transactions. easypaisa services have been
approved by the State Bank of Pakistan.




                                    METHODOLOGY
Geographic Segmentation:

Karachi, Sindh.



Age criteria:

18-40 years.



Socio-Economic Class:

A, B and C.



Qualitative research:

2 focus group.



Quantitative research:

Two in-depth interviews.



Time Frame:

The estimated time was 2 weeks and the task also completed in 2 weeks.



Visits:

We visited, Telenor office at shahbaz commercial area, Karachi.



Research material:

We studied articles, which we got officially on our visit.

                                     DATA ANALYSIS
The research questionnaire included important questions such as:

   •   What is Easy Paisa?

   •   How is it beneficial for consumers and retailers?

   •   What are the terms and conditions?

   •   What is the tariff?

   •   Do we need to invest money in it first?

   •   What can we expect from it in future?



We found out that:



   1. Easy Paisa is a branchless banking activity, which is introduced first time in Pakistan.

   2. The consumers can pay their utility bills and transfer funds with convenience whereas
      the retailers would get a reward for each transaction.

   3. For starting the service, we first need to be an Easy Paisa Merchant and then we can
      offer financial services, billing (utility) and remittance.

   4. On each bill less than 1000, rs. 10 would be charged. On more than 1000-2000, rs. 20
      are charged. On more than 2000-4000 rs. 20 and for bills more than 4000 rs. 25 is
      charged as service charged.

   5. We need to invest our own money first. In the form of deposit, for making transactions

   6. We can expect a success from it in future as this service can bring a positive impact on
      the economy and new services which are going to be introduced in future.




                      RECOMMENDATION/SUGGESTION
•   I recommend that if an Easy Paisa outlet is more near than in approach of a bank then
    go for Easy Paisa for the either payment of utility bills or for fund transfer.



•   If you have an understanding with the Easy Paisa merchant then you may regularly
    submit ur bills each month on the specified date.



•   If I was allowed to make any change in the company’s policy then I had tried to wave the
    additional service charges on any of the bills.



•   As much as the trust factor is concerned, the consumer doesn’t needs to worry about it.
    Because, we also trust the person who sold us a calling card, which maybe fake but is
    not.



•   In a country like Pakistan, where even a small contribution from each individuals can pay
    a vital role, there Easy Paisa can prove to be quite beneficial for the economy.

offers services that would forever change the way you perform your financial transactions.

Without going through the hassle of opening a bank account, everyone can enjoy secure
branchless banking through easypaisa with instant transactions. easypaisa services have been
approved by the State Bank of Pakistan.

We tend to start this work also and would also identify a central location for the office.

A mojor issue that prevents the consumer to use this service is the additional service charges
which are not taken by a bank but and Easy Paisa Merchant.

In the End, we came to the conclusion that we will adapt this trend and also encourage others
to promote it while keeping in mind the merits.
