1. How do we attract/address our
audience?
Evaluation Question 5
2. Our Target Audience
Our media product falls under a hybrid genre so it is extremely broad. The fantasy
elements will appeal to a larger audience where as the art-house theme will appeal to
a niche specific audience
Our film genre arthouse/fantasy will attract men and woman, but a more mature
audience of around of around 16-60. This however is not for certain. This film will be
opened up for all ages as there a little or no explicit content, weapons or drugs.
Furthermore due to our hybrid genre being very unique, this will make people more
curious to come and see the film. Additionally, the art world will be interested in this
film as art is a strong motif within the film.
4. Constructing a Character
We wanted a character who is slightly quirky and not your conventional teenager. He
wears a smart jacket and a white shirt. This would address to the audience that he is
not a conventional teenager. We also wanted address to the audience that is of high
class all though he does not have many friends.
The fact that he holds a frame to communicate to pictures shows his absurd nature
which would also attract curioristy with this character.
5. Soundtrack
Our soundtrack is in some ways contrapuntal. It is energized forth going
however the non diegetic voice over shows with no one believes in his talent
of talking to paintings. This I believe creates an commonly used in films like
Submarine. Soundtracks also enhance the viewing and add the mood of the
film. This creates an upbeat mood however the sad reality of not being
believed.
I used free music archive and used the genre of electric and independent.
This communicates to the audience that this is a contemporary film set in
contemporary surroundings. It is not conventional of an art house or a
fantasy film but it captivates the viewers with it’s disorientated qualities.
