INTRODUCTION
The Oaks School is an independent school in the heart of Hollywood. Founded in 1986, we are a
thriving K-6 progressive school. At The Oaks School, our idea of progressive education is based on
three important beliefs. First, we believe that children learn best when their ideas are taken seriously
and when they are encouraged to be themselves.

2. AFFORDING THE OAKS School
We are able to offer qualifying families in need a variety of tuition assistance plans ranging
from a few thousand dollars to almost full tuition. The Char Sadler Financial Aid Endowment
has been established to begin growing an on-going funding source for tuition assistance. The
Endowment provides a strong foundation to support our goal of keeping our community
accessible for years to come.

3. LEARNING AT THE OAKS
PROJECT-BASED LEARNING
We provide a Project Based Learning education to our students. We provide a teaching method in
which students gain knowledge and skill by working for an extended period of time to investigate
and respond to an authentic, engaging, and complex question, problem, or challenge.
COLLABORATIVE LEARNING
We provide a Collaborative learning method where conversation between learners takes place.
Students learn to respect and value the contributions of each team member and also learn skills
for resolving conflict when they arise.
OUTDOOR LEARNING & PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
We provide an Outdoor Learning & Physical Environment to the students where Students can move
freely in an open space, explore surroundings with their bodies and their minds, engage in
discussions, observe and reflect about their learning.
JOY OF CHILDHOOD
We build on that joy of childhood by offering students learning opportunities where they can
relish the moment, imagine, interact, and engage with the world around them. Our students
take pleasure in meaningful, productive activity, like constructing things, working with
others, exploring ideas, and solving problems.
