The SHOCC Project is led by Elaine Harrington and aims to digitize, preserve, and teach about the sonic histories of Cork City, Ireland. It utilizes special collections from the UCC Library including historical directories and images. Students contribute by recording sounds around Cork and helping develop teaching resources. The project shares these historical sounds and student recordings online to educate the wider community about Cork's auditory past and involve more people in exploring and learning about the city's sounds.
