Some very important things to note…………….
The most important document that you carry is your

passport.
Without it you cannot leave Singapore/China.
You cannot gain entry to China or return to Singapore.
Most of the time your passport will be with the teacher but there
are times when you have to present the passport to the custom officer.
You must be able to take care of your passport on those occasions.
In fact you must take care of all your belongings ( hand phone, camera etc).
The best way is to have a lanyard for you to hang your hand phone/camera
around your neck. Have clips to attach wallet to pocket.
Clearing the custom
You have to clear the custom individually.
One /your teacher would try to clear the custom first.
Once you clear the custom, go to the teacher/your teacher
and not wander off on your own no matter how familiar you
are with the place or procedure for clearing the custom.
There would be one teacher who would be the last to clear the custom.
Listen to and obey instructions at all times.
During Home stay
1.

Be polite and considerate to all members of the family.

2.

The NYPS buddies staying together should take care of each other.

3.

Take care of your own belongings and do not expect someone to pack
your belongings on the last day of your stay there.

4.

Good table manners and behaviour is expected of you during the
home stay.

5.

Be brave to try new food. If you do not like what you are served,
let the hosting family know politely.

6.

Always seek permission when you need to use anything that is not yours.
Do not call your parents using the line phone of the home,

7.

Respect the privacy of others.
Do ask for permission for if you wish to take pictures of the home.
8.

Beware of safety in whatever you do.

9.

Approach the host/China buddy for help when necessary.

10. Behave in a way that you would like someone else
who is staying at your house.
In School
● You may bring your hand phone to school
but refrain from using it during lesson
time
● Participate in the lesson and pay attention
even though it takes a while to be comfortable
with lessons conducted in Mandarin.
● During breaks, you may play but do so safely
and avoid playing only with your NYPS friends.
● Respect all teachers, staff and pupils of the
school as you would do so in NYPS
In the hotel
•Do not leave your room unless it is time for you to gather

for certain activities.

•You do not visit your friends in other rooms

as it is dangerous.
•While the teachers would take turns to do night patrol,
we need rest too. Please be considerate and do not call us
unless necessary.
•We would be making calls to check if you are in your rooms.
•If we wish to meet all of you in your room we would call you first.

This is to avoid stranger trying to enter your room just by ringing
your doorbell.

•Pay attention to the fire evacuation route at hotel
Science Learning Journey Portfolio (SLJP)
You need to complete and hand in a
Science Learning Journey Portfolio after the trip
A hand out would be given to guide you to work on your
Portfolio. During the trip, the teachers would also check if
you have taken notes for the task.
The handout would only be given out at the airport so
that you would not forget to bring for the trip.
However because of the home stay and school immersion
that will happen immediately upon arrival, you need to know
what you have to do for portfolio for the first few days now.

Please bring a notebook along.
