1. A Review of Blade Runner
The movie “Blade Runner”, directed by the cooparation of Ridley Scott and Michael
Deeleg, can be considered to be one of the best science fiction movies at its time. In this
response paper i am going to evaluate the parts i liked and the movie generally.
The movie’s genre is science fiction. The date is shown as 2019 and the story takes
place in the future Los Angels, America. The graphics and the scenes in the movie are very
fascinating. Especially according to 1982, in my opnion the audiences must have been
impressed. Deckard (Harrison Ford) is our hero in the movie. He is the blade runner who kils
the replicants. Replicants are robotic beings which are designed almost as a human. The
version Nexus 6 replicants are designed to be the best. In the movie it is also indicated being
said: “More human than human”. They even kiss each other. Moreover we see the
technological pyramits as well. Another important part which took my attention was Coca-
Cola’s advertisements in the movie. At that time the advertisements were not put int the
movies, so i think The drink company Coca- Cola was one of the superiors for this field.
Moreover the flying advanced cars are also well designed in the film. They reached to a level
in the movie even that cloned an ow and a snake. The glasses human wearing are also
futuristic designed. However the most important advancement in my opinion was the
photograph device. The device scans the photo and Deckard gives orders as a result it zoomes
the photo and find clues. Deckard’s abilities maket he movie a mixure of science fiction and
detective story. Finally the movie gives us a lot of complex emotions. The climax in the
movie was according to met this dialogue : " The designers reckoned after a few years, they
might develop their own emotional responses. You know, hate, love, fear, anger, envy. So
they built in a failsafe device. "-"Which is what?" -"Four-year lifespan." (Inspector Bryant
and Rick Deckard, 00:15:05)
2. To conclude, after watching the movie, i was totally satisfied. Although it was
somehow psychological, in general it was a successful science fiction movie. When one of the
replicants said: "Painful to live in fear, isn't it?" , i really started to think that being a replicant
is beter than being human. Finally the most impressive quote was Roy’s : "I've seen things
you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-
beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time...like
tears in rain. Time to die."
