1. William Shakespeare
William Shakespeare was baptized in
Stratford-upon-Avon, England on April 26th
,1564. He died on April 23th, 1616 and he
was 52 years old. William Shakespeare was a
poet and playwright. He is widely known as
one of the greatest writers who wrote in the
English language and one of the greatest
dramatists all over the world. British often
call him the national poet of England and
'bard of Avon'. The surviving works are 38
plays, 154 sonnets and two great narrative
poems. His works have been translated in
most of the world’s languages. In his works

general.
Shakespeare wrote most of his known works
between 1589 and 1613 and managed to
write poems, plays, tragedies and comedies.
His plays are popular because there is a deep
understanding of human nature. The
influence in English literature is huge!

Gentlemen of Verona, A Midsummer Night's
Dream, The Merchant of Venice, As You Like
It, The Winter's Tale.
Some of his famous tragedies are: Romeo
and Juliet, Julius Caesar, Hamlet, Othello, the
Moor of Venice, Macbeth, King Lear.

4. LEONARDO DA VINCI
Leonardo da Vinci was born in April 15,1452
in Vinci, Italy. He was an artist,
mathematician, inventor and writer. His real
name was “Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci”.
He grew up in Florence. He was also painter,
sculpture, musician and physicist.
His most known painting is “Mona Lisa”. For
da Vinci the “Mona Lisa” was his attempt for
perfection. Da Vinci owned this painting till
the end of his life. Today the “Mona Lisa”
hangs in the Louvre Museum in Paris.
His work, “The secret dinner” , is one of the
major works in art history. Today “The
secret dinner” is in Milan.
His most important works are The Adoration
of the Magi, Leonardo's horse, Cesare Borgia,
Isabella d'Este, St. John the Baptist, Apostolic
Palace, Vitruvian Man.
Da Vinci has been called a genius and died in
France on May 2,1519.
