Monel Wire Mesh
• Monel alloy 400 characteristics-
– Outstanding corrosion resistance in the broad
range of sea and chemical conditions varying from
pure water to acids, alkalis and salts
– Alloy 400 offers superior corrosion resistance than
nickel in the reducing media and better than
copper in the oxidizing conditions, it offers
although superior resistance to reducing
conditions than oxidizing media
Charactersticks
• Supreme mechanical characteristics from sub
zero temperatures up to 480 oC
• Supreme resistance to sulfuric and
hydrofluoric acids. Aeration however caused
higher corrosion rates and the alloy may be
utilized to perform in the presence of
hydrochloric acid however use of oxidizing
media will increase corrosive attack.
Charactersticks
• The resistance to neutral, alkaline and acidic
salts is good but lower in oxidizing media for
example ferric chloride.
• Outstanding resistance to chloride ion stress
corrosion cracking
Nichrome Wiremesh
Nichrome alloys such as Nichrome 80 and
Nichrome 60 are used as electric heating
element for offering high electric resistance that
is essential to produce heat. The Nichrome alloy
performs good in producing heat at the high
temperatures up to 1850oF.
Nichrome Wire Mesh
These heating elements are used in the household and
industrial equipments. Nichrome is readily machined by
traditional methods. It has good ductility and is easily
formed by standard methods. It can be welded by the
whole traditional methods. The annealing is done at
1950oF – 2000oF then quenching by air. The heating
element is readily forged at the temperature limits about
2000oF. The hot processing can be done from 1400-
1900oF. Nichrome is a ductile material and it can be easily
cold processing. It is hardened by cold processing

Properties
• Density – 0.304 lb/cu.in, specific gravity – 8.2,
specific heat capacity – 0.107 Btu/lb/oF at 32
to 212oF, electrical resistivity – 675micro-ohm
cm at 68oF, Melting point -2550 oF, thermal
conductivity – 0.032, mean coefficient of
thermal expansion- 0.13
Physical Properties
• Nichrome wire mesh is resistant to oxidation
and other types of corrosion. It produces a
security oxide layer that prevents the material
penetration and secures the base metal. Good
electrical properties and high ductility. The
commercial Nichrome grades are optimized
for specific applications.
Physical Properties
• Nichrome 80 is commonly used for wrought
and cast alloys for high temperature
applications for its excellent oxidation and hot
corrosion resistance as compared to FeNiCr
alloys.
