6. UN-GENDERED PICTURE BOOKS
In picture books deemed as un-gendered all or at least some of the characters are not
assigned a gender. Therefore, the reader, uses their cultural cues and experiences,
to assign, or possibly not assign, a gender to the character (s). These books allow for
interpretation on part of the reader, as well as for the reader, no matter their gender, to
more easily identify with the character(s).
