3. DEFINITION OF STEWARDSHIP
1. The duties and obligations of
conducting, supervising, or
the managing of something
which belongs to another
2. The activity of protecting and
being responsible for a
superior’s estate or property
4. HISTORY OF THE TERM
In the beginning stewardship referred
to a household servant’s duties for
bringing food and drink to the castle’s
dining hall. Eventually the duties
expanded to include everything needed
to manage the entire household.
Managing the household involved
delegation, discipline, encouragement
and most important, accountability to
the head of the household.
5. BIBLICAL STEWARDSHIP
The careful use, management and
control of the possessions of all God
given resources. The term is also used
to refer to the use of wealth and all
material possessions by Christians.
The fundamental principle of biblical
stewardship is that God owns
everything, we are simply managers or
administers acting on His behalf!
6. WHAT WE NEED TO LEARN
• That we are responsible for
managing all the resources of life
for the glory of God.
• That we are responsible for
overseeing and protecting the
things of God, including ourselves
• That we should acknowledge God
as our sole Provider.
