3. INTRODUCTION
Last month’s theme was
originally scheduled to be
“God’s Love.” But it was
erroneously changed to “God’s
Grace.” However, in actuality,
God’s Love and God’s Grace are
spiritually, two-sides of the
same coin; they cannot be
separated. The unmerited
favor, (grace), of God, is
motivated by the “love” of God.
4. The word love is recorded 546
times in the King James Version
of the Bible. However, these
words do not always carry the
same meaning. The phrase “the
love of God,” is only found 12
times in the Bible, all in the New
Testament. There are four basic
words in the Greek language:
1. EGROS
2. PHILOS
3. STARGO
4. AGAPE
5. The first three are related to
human love. This includes
affection for the opposite sex,
friends and family. But the last
one is “divine love.” While it is
attributed to God alone, it
should be the goal of every
Christian. God’s love – Agape -
is a central theme in the New
Testament. It expresses God’s
care and concern for His people.
It is unconditional and not
based upon the performance or
action of the recipients.
6. OUR RESPONSE TO GOD’S LOVE
• Recognize we don’t deserve it
and express thanksgiving
• Live a life which
demonstrates profound
appreciation
• Tell others of God’s love
toward them
• Come together, regularly, in
corporate worship to
celebrate His love
• Make God LORD of your life;
not just Savior of your soul.
