Health and Safety Law Poster (government poster) displayed in
STYC reception area.
Risk assessments carried out for all on and off site activities as
and when required.
Safe systems of work have been developed and implemented that
incorporate minimum staffing levels, accompanied visits and on
site young people signing - in systems.
All equipment to be purchased new - to ensure it meets any
current regulations. All equipment checked for visual/obvious
damage before use.

3. 2 Insufficient Staff Cover. Minimum Staffing levels:
Somers Town Youth Centre evening sessions to operate with
a minimum of Four paid youth workers on site.
At least TWO members of staff to be regular (not temporary or
new). If this is not possible then STYC should not be opened
for general drop in sessions. This does not apply to outside
groups/bookings or small workshop groups of young people.
ie Girls only gym sessions (2 staff) CSU etc.
Wherever possible a member of staff should cover and monitor the
reception area when the youth centre is open for general sessions.
Staff should register new young people and enter members on to
the IYSS register.
YOS Staff:
A minimum of two Camden YOS staff will be working
from SCYAP during the hours of 09:00am and
17:00pm. During appointments with young people there
will be a minimum of three members of staff. If there
are not three members of staff, appointments will be
relocated.

4. 3 Fire, Explosion or
Electric Shock.
Appropriate smoke or heat alarms fitted in all rooms. Fire
extinguishers (water, foam or powder) fitted in all rooms -
appropriate to room usage/equipment. Fire blanket fitted in kitchen
area. Fire instruction notices displayed in STYC.
