1) Spain lags behind other countries like France and the UK in IT monitoring. While ITIL methodology and monitoring started changing 4 years ago, Spain is still catching up. 2) Open source software like Nagios, Apache, and Tomcat are commonly used in Spain, though Windows and proprietary software dominate. The number of Linux enterprise users is growing but still lower than in the UK, France, and Italy. 3) Case studies show how Nagios helped companies like Vocento monitor newspaper production processes and the Cantabria government monitor databases, VMWare, applications, and operating systems. Nagios proved flexible and cost-effective compared to proprietary solutions.
