When we want to express our
own preferences in specific
situations, we use “would

దాన్నకన్ాి మఱియొకటి మేల్ుగా ఉంట ంది
అన్న అన్నపథంచే సందరాాల్ల్ల “would

 I’d rather go to cinema.
 I’d rather talk fruit juice.
 Better you’d rather take a
taxi.
We use “would rather” to
express what others should do
at that particular situation.
Here, we use a past tense
verb though it has present or
future meaning.
మనం కొన్ని ప్రత్యెక ప్రిస్థితుల్లో ఇతరుల్ు
ఏమిటి చేయాల్ల చయప్పడాన్నకి “would
rather” న్న ప్రయోగిస్ాా ము. కిియ వరామాన

truth.
I’d rather you took a taxi.

well for the examination.
 The film is quite violent. I’d
rather our children didn’t
watch it.
We use “would rather”
followed by “than” when both
would rather and the following
action has same subject.
“would rather” దాన్న తరువాత వచేే
కిియల్ subject ఒకకటే అయి నప్పపడు
తరువాత వచేే కిియ ముందు ‘than’ న్న
ఉప్యోగిస్ాా ము.
 I’d rather read than write.
 I’d rather play cricket than
golf.
 Rahul’d rather sit idle than
work.
 Susi’d rather practise
dance than rest.
To express an unfulfilled action
we use ‘would rather ‘ followed
by perfect infinitive.
