2. VIETNAM
Vietnam is a small but majestic country, where history and
culture mix with natural wonders, great cuisine and naturally
friendly people.
3. HANOI
The capital of Vietnam, Hanoi is the second most populous city
in the country with approximately 6.5 million people. The
history and culture of Vietnam is clearly on display.
4. SAPA
Sapa is perched dramatically on the western edge of a high plateau,
facing the hazy blue peak of Fan Si Pan, and is surrounded by villages of
ethnic minorities, particularly the Red Dao and Black Hmong.
5. HALONG BAY
Halong translates as ‘where the dragon descends into the sea’, and
legend claims the islands of Halong Bay were created by a great dragon
from the mountains.
6. NINH BINH
At first glance, the provincial capital of Ninh Binh appears to be yet
another dusty, traffic-heavy northern town.
7. MEKONG DELTA
Mekong Delta attractions feature the region’s diversity that makes it so
memorable: friendly inhabitants working on the life-sustaining river, green rice
paddies shine under the sun, kids riding on the backs of buffalo or cycling through
country lanes, vendors grinning behind stacks of fruit packed etc.
8. HOI AN
Hoi An is famous for the beautiful surrounding countryside and unspoilt
beaches also imbue the whole area with a very restful, rustic charm.
9. HO CHI MINH CITY
Formerly known as “Saigon”, the city is Vietnam’s commercial center.
With a population of approximately 10 million people it’s a dynamic
metropolis undergoing dramatic change.
10. PHU QUOC ISLAND
Phu Quoc Island rises from its slender southern tip like a genie released from a
bottle. Virtually unknown by outsiders a decade ago, it has now cast a spell on
enough visitors, with its soft-sand beaches, swaying palms and limpid waters, to
challenge Nha Trang as Vietnam’s top beach destination.
11. DA LAT
Dalat is quite different from anywhere else you’ll visit in Vietnam. You would
almost be forgiven for thinking you’d stumbled into the French Alps in
springtime. This was certainly how the former colonists treated it – escaping to
their chalets to enjoy the cooler climate.
