The Encounter Story - Winter 2015
1. A reading of the gospels reveals
personal interactions that Jesus had
with individuals. Although He often
spoke to the multitudes, He also had
specific time for Nicodemus (John 3),
Zacchaeus (Luke 19), the Samaritan
woman (John 4), the Roman centurion
(Matthew 8), Mary and Martha (John
11) and many others. As you read these
recorded interactions in the Scriptures,
you find out pretty quickly that these
people all had needs. Nicodemus had
a need to discover the truth. Zacchaeus
had a cheating problem. The Samaritan
woman had relational issues. The
Roman centurion had a close friend
facing a medical challenge. Mary and
Martha had to deal with grief.
When Jesus encountered these
individuals, He met their physical needs
- feeding and healing. As wonderful
as it was for these people to have their
physical needs met, the true life-change
occurred when Jesus addressed their
spiritual needs. When Jesus revealed
Himself as the Messiah to the Samaritan
woman, she was truly transformed.
Once Nicodemus realized he needed
to be born again rather than just have
his intellectual questions answered, he
experienced a radical change. As Jesus
gave forgiveness to Zacchaeus, he
gave back to those he had cheated and
restored some broken relationships. The
faith of the Roman centurion was built
and commended through the healing of
his servant. Mary and Martha learned of
an everlasting life in Christ through the
death and resurrection of their brother.
Jesus met their physical needs to help
bring them to an awareness of their
spiritual need. Jesus is the ultimate
LIFE-CHANGER because He didn’t
just give people a temporary solution to
their physical problem, but he provided
an everlasting solution to their spiritual
need.
Through our Encounter LIFE-
CHANGERS program, you get the
opportunity to reach around the world
to help feed the hungry, provide medical
assistance to the sick, and offer relief
to the oppressed. But more importantly,
you are reaching into lives with the
gospel of Jesus Christ. For more

JESUS, THE ULTIMATE LIFE-CHANGER
A Quarterly Newsletter Showing What God Is Doing Through Encounter | WINTER 2015
These children in India have their physical needs met

a chance to hear the life-changing story of salvation
through Jesus Christ.
2. “Some of us on the team
were visiting a coffee shop in
the area when I met an older
gentleman named Fred. He asked about
who our group was and could tell that
we were Christians because of how we
behaved and because ‘a joyful spirit
is an attribute that only comes from
the Lord.’ Wow! He then continued to
encourage me with his testimony. I want
to be like Fred - never afraid to share
about the greatness of my God!”
-Sarah Stenson
“I really saw God working at
one of the nursing homes we
ministered at. Despite technical
difficulties that day, one of the residents
was especially blessed by the team’s
singing and began showing positive
improvement, interacting more with
others. It’s amazing how God-glorifying
music can encourage the souls of others
like that.” -Alex Landers
“I had a lengthy discussion
with a small group teen girl
last year about the importance
of baptism. I met her again during our
fall tour and she was filled with joy to
tell me that she recently got baptized.
She thanked me for helping and taking
the time to explain it to her.”
-Sarah DeCrotie
“During our week of meetings
at one of the churches this past
Fall, I noticed that my host-
brother’s attitude and behavior with his
parents really improved as the week
went on. I was able to see first-hand how
God uses the ministries of Encounter to
strengthen families. I’m blessed to be a
part of it.” -Cameron Nyhoff
“One way I saw God working
was when I noticed that my
host-sister began personally
reading her Bible because she saw me
doing it. It’s so humbling to realize the
impact your example can have.”
-Alyssa Tumia
“During the Fall tour, I was
really encouraged by the
generosity of the people we
met and stayed with. I was also able to
help encourage my host-family’s kids to
pursue a daily quiet time in the Bible.”
-Norris Thompson
“One of my host-families in
Indiana was so welcoming
and treated me like I was their
own child. In just getting to know them
over a week, I was able to encourage
them and they encouraged me in return.
It’s so great to be able to build edifying
relationships with other believers at the
churches we visit.” -Gloria Colaprete

KEEPING THE VISION
God has been faithful to Encounter Revival Ministries for over 20 years, providing us with numerous opportunities to share the
Gospel and show His love in churches across America, during summer camp and throughout several countries worldwide. Our
commitment to teaching the truths of God’s Word for spiritual revival has never been more determined or focused. We are excited
to see how God continues to work and use the ministry in unique ways!
3. At the Encounter headquarters
at Mt. Lou San Bible Camp
in Harrisburg, PA, many
local youths were treated to a
Christmas dinner served by the
team. Gifts were also delivered
to the children by local donors
and many spent some quality
time with the Encounter Singers
- the boys playing a game of
basketball while the girls had a
nail-painting party.
In Myanmar, Pastor James’
ministry celebrates Christmas
by handing out Bibles, hosting
a meal and sharing the Gospel
with villagers. In Zambia,
Leonard and the African
Encounter team share the story
of Christmas with local villages
and hand out new clothes and
sandals. And in India, thousands
of children receive a new set of
clothes and a Christmas meal at
the orphanage.
It is the monthly support that
Encounter receives that allows
our ministries to show the
love of Christ in this way and
provide opportunity to share
the Gospel. To consider how
you can help support Encounter
on a monthly basis, please

lifechangers.
Children from a local community
center, The Resting Place, enjoy special
Christmas gifts from local donors and
Encounter Team Members.
Residents of various Zambian villages
receive new clothing and sandals,
opening doors to communicate the
Gospel.
Villagers in Myanmar receive Bibles
and other helpful gifts this Christmas.
Thousands of grateful children receive
new clothes and a Christmas meal at
Banjara Tribal Ministries in India.
CHRISTMAS AROUND THE WORLDSharing Christ’s love and the Christmas Story
I often refer to my experience with
Encounter Revival Ministries with great
fondness. My 2007-2008 commission to
the Encounter team was unarguably the
most challenging, formative and most
gratifying year of my life. We, the “team
members,” learned how to serve one
another and how to serve those around
us in a manner reflective of Christ’s own
conduct. We were also under the daily
guidance of some of the godliest men
and women of the faith I’ve encountered
to date.
Encounter was also a time in which I
discovered, through the encouragement
of those around me, the unique gifts that
God had bestowed upon me for ministry.
Various components of ERM allowed
me to foster a significant skill set in the
way of communication and Biblical
counseling that have guided the course
of my life in the succeeding years.
I also felt compelled throughout the
Encounter travel year to explore the pos-
sibility of pursuing a helping profession
and the opportunity to be a cabin leader
at Mt. Lou San Bible Camp solidified
this interest. Six years later, I am pleased
to report that I continue to correspond
with a portion of the girls assigned to
my cabin. To know that I, by way of the
grace of God, made a positive impact on
any individual’s life is deeply rewarding.
It is hard to believe that it has been
seven years since I initially traveled to
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Encounter
Revival Ministries imposed the solid,
Christ-centered foundation that I needed
to proceed with the rest of my “adult
life” as His follower. I am so thank-
ful for that opportunity and if given
the chance, I would do it all over again
without hesitation.

THE IMPORTANCE OF DISCIPLESHIPTestimony by Ashley Cooper - 07-08 Team Member
4. In 2005, an Encounter team member
named Amanda Bonner had parents who
were missionaries in Luanshya, Zambia.
Her parents invited the Encounter team
to come to Zambia for a two-week
missions ministry. When we arrived,
we became acquainted with a Zambian
national named Leonard Bwalya. A
few days later Leonard asked if we
wanted to meet the African Encounter
team (AERM). Of course, we had no
idea about the existence of the African
Encounter team, but we sure were
curious. Soon we saw a group of African
youths lined up and singing the message
of God’s truth to us. Upon further
questioning, Leonard told us that after
watching the US Encounter team for a
few days; he became convinced that he
should start a similar team in Zambia.
Since that time in 2005, we maintain
a strong relationship with the AERM
team. Through funds, training, and
discipleship materials, Encounter is
able to participate in the life-changing
ministry going on in Zambia. The ways
that this team reaches Zambia includes
public school and church ministry, a
40 acre camp property that also grows
crops to feed the community, a soccer
league that attracts youth and much
more.
On April 20 the Encounter Singers will
be journeying to Zambia, partnering
with the AERM team in these ministries:
• Sharing the “Unlocking Your
Potential” series in public schools
• Conducting a two day pastor’s
conference for 80 pastors from
surrounding villages
• Hosting a youth conference
• Ministering in multiple church
meetings
• Ministering at a deaf school and
leper colony
• Working at the farm and helping
with the camp
• Providing training and teaching to
the AERM team
Please pray for our team members. In
all of these outreach opportunities, we
desire to clearly proclaim the gospel.
Through music and preaching, we
anticipate God to save souls and to
move people into a closer walk with
Him.
