Sun Tzu was a 6th century BC military general, strategist, and philosopher from the Chinese state of Wu. He is best known for his treatise The Art of War, which discusses military strategy and tactics. The Art of War acknowledges that war should be avoided whenever possible but is sometimes necessary, and provides guidance on how to wage war successfully through deception and outmaneuvering opponents. Centuries later, The Art of War continues to be widely studied and applied not only to military strategy but in other competitive arenas like business, law, and sports.
