2. Materials Needed:
Consumables:
• Paper Towel Roll
• Duct Tape
Reusable:
• Two 12-inch rulers (with holes)
• One 12-inch PVC pipe
-Track baton or other similar item works
• One lint roller (hole on top)
• One dense sponge
• Three 3-4 inch bolts
-Thinner threads are best
• Three matching nuts
• 1 Ace Bandage (optional)
• Scissors
• 3-4 inch nail or other long item
for puncturing paper towel roll
3. Steps to Build a Basic Prosthetic Model
Step 1: Align rulers to desired height
and affix in parallel fashion to sticky part
of lint roller. Duct tape in place.
Step 2: Cut sponge in half. Run bolt
through bottom holes in ruler through
sponge. Fasten with nut.
4. Building a Prosthetic Step 3:
Align hole in top of lint roller to
desired location. Puncture paper
towel roll with nail or other item.
Drive bolt through paper towel
roll making sure that it runs
through the hole in the lint roller.
Fasten tightly.
5. Building a Prosthetic Step 4:
Use scissors to cut a notch in the
back of the paper towel roll to
allow for joint movement.
6. Building a Prosthetic Step 5:
Insert PVC pipe section into top of
leg for stability. Duct tape
remaining sponge to the top of
the pipe/towel roll and cover with
ace bandage.
