Today we are facing fuel
crisis and also air
pollution ;
Now a days we are using
gasoline as a major fuel
which is going on expensive
also it is non-renewable ;
So an alternate for gasoline
has to be adopted ,
C0MRESSED AIR serves this
purpose .

• The Air Powered Car
is powered by air
engine which uses
COMPRESSED AIR as
fuel.
• The air powered car
is also called as a low
pollution or zero
pollution cars.

6. CHASSIS OF AN AIR CAR
• Highly resistant and
light chassis
• Made of aluminium
• Aluminium rods are

enables more shock

other regular chassis

• It is made up of FIBER
and INJECTED FOAM.
• It does not rust

8. COMPRESSED AIR TANK
• It is the most
important part of
these cars
• It is made of carbon
fiber
• These tanks hold 90
cubic metres of air
• It can be ruptured
but can’t be explode
since there are no
metals in them.

9. ENGINE
• Engine uses
compressed air as a
fuel
• It has normally two
cylinder engines for
mid range cars.
• It runs normally like a
gasoline engine but
there is a absence of
combustion chamber.

10. BREAK POWER RECOVERY
• It is a pneumatic system which plays an
important role in air powered cars
• Brake power recovery means , the
engine stops when the car is stationary (
at traffic, junctions , railway crossings,
etc.,.).
• It saves 13% of the power used.

11. AIR FILTER
• The engine works with both air
taken from the atmosphere and also
from compressor tank
• Before compression, the air must be
filtered to get rid of any impurities
that could damage the engine.
• Carbon filters are used to eliminate
dirt, dust, humidity and other
particles
• It is the first time that a car has
produced minus pollution.
• The exhaust pipe on the cars
produces clean air, which is cold
on exit (between -15º and 0º) and is
harmless to human life.

12. WORKING
• First piston takes atmospheric air and
compresses it to approximately 300
psi in the compression chamber
• Then a small amount of air from the
tank is released in to the expansion
chamber at a low pressure of 140 psi
also at low temperature.
• A high speed shutter connects the
compression and expansion chambers.
• The sudden pressure and temperature
difference between the compression
and expansion chambers creates
pressure waves in the expansion
chamber, thereby producing work in
the exhaust chamber that drives the
piston to power the engine.

14. REFILING OF AIR
• The air can be filled
at our home by using
Air Compressor , but
it requires 3 to 4
hours.
• And the air can be
filled in Air Stations
and it requires just 2
to 3 minutes.

15. ADVANTAGES
• Less costly and more effective.
• Simple in construction.
• Light weight engine.
• Easy to maintain and repair.
• The price of filling air tanks is significantly
cheaper than petrol, diesel or bio fuel.
• Pollution free.

16. DISADVANTAGES
• Less speed
• Can’t be effectively used for heavy trailer
vehicles
• Refueling at house takes 3-4 hours.

18. CONCLUSION
• Air powered cars is a realization of latest
technology in automobile field.
• The air car is a clean, easy to drive, light weight
and high performance car.
• It eliminates the use of non-renewable fuels and
thereby preventing pollution and step to a
healthier environment.
• Tata Motors has signed an agreement
with Moteur Development International
( MDI) of France to develop cars that
runs on compressed air.
• The Mexico government scheduled to replace
45000 cars by air car in highly polluted areas of
their country.
