The Whites live one

the sleeping JonBenet
to her room. Patsy
prepares her for bed.

go to bed.
This is reportedly the
last time anyone sees
JonBenet alive,
asleep in her bed

The neighbor across the
street hears a piercing
scream just before
midnight. Her husband
hears the sound of
metal on concrete.
Another neighbor report
odd lights in the home.
No one called the police.

5:45 am
John and Patsy awake
to catch a 7:00 am
flight to Michigan.
John takes a shower.
It is unclear what Patsy
did at this time, but it
may be one of the
following:

1. Patsy goes down a
spiral staircase with
some laundry.
2. Went down the spiral
staircase to make
coffee.
3. She went to wake up
JonBenet and finding
her missing went
down the spiral
staircase

5:45 am
On the spiral stairs
Patsy finds a 3 page
ransom note. The
note states
“We have your
daughter”.
John and Patsy do not
find JonBenet in her
room or Burke’s
room.

 5:55 am
 Patsy Patsy: “Police.”
 911: “What’s going on ma’am?”
 Patsy: “755 15th street.”
 911: “What’s going on there ma’am”
 Patsy: “We have a kidnapping. Hurry, please!”
 911: “Explain to me what’s going on. Ok?”
 Patsy: “There. We have a, there’s a note left and our daughter’s gone.”
 911: “A note was left and your daughter’s gone?”
 Patsy: “Yes!”
 911: “How old is your daughter?”
 Patsy: “She’s 6 years old. She’s blonde, 6 years old.”
 911: “How long ago was this?”
 Patsy: “I don’t know I just got the note, and my daughter’s gone.”
 911: “Does it say who took her?”
 Patsy: “What?”
 911: “Does it say who took her?”
 Patsy: “No! I don’t know. There’s a, there’s a ransom note here.”
 911: “It’s a ransom note?”
 Patsy: “It say’s SBTC. Victory! Please!”
 911: “Okay, what’s your name? Are you Kath...?”
 Patsy: “Patsy Ramsey, I’m the mother. Oh my God! Please!”
 911: “Okay, I’m sending an officer over OK?
 Patsy: “Please!”
 911: “Do you know how long she’s been gone?”
 Patsy: “No I don’t! Please we just got up and she’s not here. Oh my god! Please!”
 911: “Okay, Cal....”
 Patsy: “Please send somebody.”
 911: “I am honey.”
 Patsy: “Please.”
 911: “Take a deep breath and...”
 Patsy: “Hurry, hurry, hurry!”
 911: “Patsy? Patsy? Patsy? Patsy?”

5:55 am
Patsy calls 911 to report the
kidnapping although the note
stated the child would be
killed if the police were
notified.
It is written in a felt tipped
pen. The style is either
someone who very nervous
or attempting to disguise
their writing style.
The note asks for $118,000
dollars and is signed
“S.B.T.C.”

5:52 am
First officers arrive and
were shown the ransom
note.
Officers reported that:
1. While John paced the
floor, Patsy watched him
through her splayed
fingers
2. Patsy was wearing
fresh makeup and the
same clothes she was
wearing at dinner the
night before.

5:55 – 6:00 am
John Ramsey called
two sets of friends,
the Fleets and the
Fernies’, and asked
them to immediately
come over.

6:00 am- 8:00 am
Additional police
arrive.
The Whites arrive.
The Fernies arrive.
A priest arrives.
If this is a kidnapping,
the entire house is a
crime scene. Why are
people allowed to
enter???

6:00 am – 8:00 am
The first officer who
was on scene makes a
quick search of the
house, including the
basement, and finds
no evidence of forced
entry

6:20 am
Fleet White was allowed
to search the house alone,
including the basement,
but found nothing.
He opened a door to a
small storage area. It was
dark inside and not finding
a light switch closed the
door.
Why is someone allowed
to search the crime scene
and do so without being
accompanied by the
police.

7:00 am
Burke is awakened and
later driven to the Whites
house by the Whites and
Fernies.
White and Fernie later
return to the Ramsey
house.
1. A possible witness / future
victim is allowed to leave
the house?
and
2. Why are people are
allowed to come and go
from a crime scene ?

8:10 am
Detectives Arndt and Patterson
arrive on scene and are briefed
about the incident.
A victims advocate is called for
the Ramsey’s. They are
allowed into the house with
coffee and bagels.
A family friend reportedly
wiped down and cleaned the
kitchen counters with a cleaner
after crime scene tech’s dusted
for prints.
You’re kidding me, right?

8:00 am – 1:00 pm
Ransom note stated
the kidnappers would
call between 8 am and
11 am
No call was ever
received.
John Ramsey calls a
friend in Atlanta to
arrange for the ransom
money

10:00 am
John Ramsey goes down
to the basement alone.
He finds a broken open
window and closes it
before coming back
upstairs. He had been
gone for about ONE HOUR
Ramsey does not report
this “open window” to the
police at this time. He
later claims he broke the
window the previous year
when he locked himself
out.

10:30 am
JonBenets bedroom is
sealed off by Arndt
and Patterson.
Patterson leaves.
Between 10:30 am
and 1:00 pm Arndt
reportedly asked HQ
for backup at the
house.
None came. She is
there alone.

1:00 pm
Arndt reportedly asks
John Ramsey, Fleet White
and John Fernie “to check
the interior of the
residence for any sign of
JonBenet, or anything that
may have been left or
taken that belonged to
JonBenet”
John Ramsey immediately
went to the basement
with the other two men.
Unbelievable !!!

1:03 pm – 1:05 pm
 In the basement the
men come upon the
broken window and
there are small broken
pieces of glass on the
floor. (John Ramsey
claims he never fixed
the window when he
broke it.)
 They also notice a
suitcase below the
broken window. (A
step?) They move the
suitcase from its original
spot.

1:03 pm – 1:05 pm
 John Ramsey enters a basement
storage room and finds the body
of JonBenet.
 She is laying on her back,
wrapped in a blanket with her
arms above her head.
 Her head is uncovered.
 She has been strangled with a
cord which is still around her
neck.
 Duct tape covers her mouth.
 Though not immediately
apparent, her skull has been
crushed.
 She is wearing long johns and a
knit shirt with a sequined star
on the front

1:03 pm -1:05 pm
 John Ramsey removes the
duct tape from her
mouth.
 He picks her up and
carries her upstairs to the
hallway area.
 CPR may be have been
done at this time.
 JonBenet is in full rigor
and her lips are blue.
Contamination of evidence

1:05 pm
 Arndt herself picks up the body and
carries it to the living room placing it
under the Christmas tree.
 John Ramsey returns and places a
covering from a nearby chair on the
body.
 A Colorado Avalanche sweatshirt is
later seen on the body as well.
 Patsy Ramsey collapsed on the body
saying “Jesus, you raised Lazarus
from the grave. Raise my baby”
 Fleet White returns to the basement
and picks up the duct tape.
Further contamination.

1:25 pm
Backup officers respond
to scene.
A detective walks through
the basement to see if
anyone is hiding there.
He sees two blankets in
the “wine cellar” where
the body had been found.
NOTE: Fleet White would
take Arndt aside later and
tell her he had opened the
wine cellar door earlier
when he searched the
basement and saw
nothing.

1:45 pm
The Ramsey’s are
allowed to leave their
home and stay with the
Fernies. They meet
with friends, a doctor
and an attorney.
AT THIS TIME THEY HAVE
NOT BEEN SEPERATED OR
QUESTIONED IN DEPTH
THEY WOULD NOT BE
FORMALLY QUESTIONED
UNTIL APRIL 30,1997….4
MONTHS LATER

1:50 pm
The house is cleared
and finally declared a
crime scene.
8:30 pm
The body of JonBenet
is removed from the
house and an autopsy
performed the
following morning.

The Note:
It was determined the
note had come from a
notepad located in the
Ramsey’s house near the
spiral stairs. This could
mean one of two things:
1. An intruder had spent
a fair amount of time
inside the Ramsey house
or
2. She was killed by one
or more people inside the
house (John, Patsy, Burke)

Note con’t:
The amount of the
ransom was
$118,000
This is the exact
amount of the
bonus John Ramsey
had received from
his company
Why not ask for $5
million dollars ??

Note:
JonBenet is always referred to as “
your daughter "never by her name.
Did they know how to spell it?
Several lines in the note are very
similar to lines from movies
(Speed, Ransom, Dirty Harry)
Question:
If this was a kidnapping why
wouldn’t the suspect just bring
the already written note with
them.
Why count on having the time to
write it there?

JonBenet
1. The rope around
her neck was tied to
a broken stick. The
stick was used to
tighten the noose.
2. The stick was
determined to be a
paint brush handle
from Patsy Ramsey’s
paint brush kit
located in the
basement.

3. The paint kit was
outside the storage
door meaning it may
have been the first
handy tool the killer
noticed.
4. Splinters were
found on the
basement floor
showing the killing
occurred in here
rather than in other
parts of the home.

 She was sexually
assaulted (bleeding and
abrasions) though it may
have been chronic
 Strangled (petechial
hemorrhages in the
eyes)
 *******Severe blunt force
trauma to the right side
of the head (but not a
lot of bleeding??) ********
 When your heart stops
beating the blood flow
slows to a stop and
then ceases.
 Strangulation before
the head blow.

 Several years later an
retired detective
examining
photographs of
JonBenet’s body
observed two small
welts.
 These were consistent
in size and shape with
a stun gun.
 Was this device used
to torture or control?

The window:
The grate above the
broken window appears to
have been moved as the
other grates had leaves on
them.
Possible scuff mark on the
wall below the window
and above the suitcase.
You would have to know
about the broken window?

1. The notepad and a
flashlight were in plain
view in the house. Many
view it as the weapon
used to strike JonBenet,
but no prints or trace
evidence was ever found
on it.
2. The items used for
control, namely the stun
gun, duct tape and cord
were never found. This
may indicate the suspect
brought them with him.
The flashlight may have
been included.

The Shoe Print
Found next to the
body but due to
number of people no
claim to it has been
made.

 Claims he murdered
JonBenet
 A pedophile who faces child
pornography charges in
California
 Ex-wife stated he was with
her in 1996 and not in
Colorado.
 Claims he drugged
JonBenet but no drugs were
ever found.
 Claims he picked her up
from school but it was
Christmas vacation
BUT…

An unusual item
was found by an
old high school
classmate of Karrs’
in their yearbook.

Karr wrote in her book
“ I Shall Be The
Conqueror “
S. B. T. C.

 But to add to the confusion John Ramsey’s
bible was found open to Psalms 35 and 36 on
his desk:
“ Contend, O Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against
those who fight against me
Take up shield and buckler; and come to my aid
Brandish spear and javelin against those who pursue me.
Say to my souls, “I am your salvation”.
CTBS is SBTC backwards. This does not appear anywhere else in
the Bible.

New DNA evidence
collected from
JonBenets clothing does
not belong to John,
Patsy or Burke Ramsey.
Could it be the killers?
The sample has been
placed in the CODIS
national database and
the hope is one day a
match will occur.

 Aerospace Corporation analyzed the phone call
made by Patsy Ramsey. Before the call ended
Patsy was heard to say “Help me Jesus. Help me
Jesus”. Burke Ramsey was heard in the
background saying “What did you find ?”. John
Ramsey barked out “We’re not talking to you”.
 The Ramsey’s repeatedly said Burke did not
wake until later that morning after police
arrived.
 If you were a parent and found your daughter
missing, wouldn’t you immediately go and
awaken your other children rather than letting
them just sleep?

 John Ramsey at no time comforted his wife
during the ordeal at their home.
 It was later determined White move the
suitcase from its original spot under the
window. He also placed a piece of broken
glass on a ledge altering the scene.
 The ransom note was first picked up by
Patsy, then spread out on the floor by John
to read, and then placed back on the stairs.
The photograph of the note on the steps is
inaccurate.

 John Ramsey told three different officers
that he had checked the house and all was
secure. Months later he denied saying that
to anyone.
 When John Ramsey and Det. Arndt were over
the body of JonBenet he asked if his
daughter was alive. When she confirmed she
was dead, John Ramsey allegedly said “It has
to be an inside job”

 Arndt….” as we looked at each other, I wore a shoulder
holster, I remember tucking my gun right next to me and
consciously counting I’ve got eighteen bullets,” she said.
“I didn’t know if we would all be alive when people
showed up…Everything made sense in that instant, and I
knew what happened.”
 Only 6 % of child murders are committed by strangers.
54% are committed by family members.
JonBenet had bed wetting issues and often wore pull up
diapers. Often bed wetting and finding fecal matter in the
bed is seen in cases of incest.

 Patsy Ramsey stated that JonBenet had gone to
bed wearing a red turtleneck. Her body was
discovered not wearing it. On the bathroom
counter near JonBenets bedroom, the red
turtleneck sweater was found balled up. Who
had changed her ??
 Small dark fibers were found in JBR’s pubic
region.
 Chunks of pineapple were found in JBR’s
digestive tract. The Ramsey’s stated she had no
pineapple that night before going to bed. There
was pineapple in a bowl in the kitchen. The
bowl contained Patsy’s fingerprints.

 The Sharpie pens used to write the ransom
note were found in a cup on the kitchen
counter beneath the telephone used to make
the 911 call. That means after they wrote
the note they put the pen back in its holder.
 Why would the note be left on the back
spiral stairway instead of the main staircase.
How would a stranger know Patsy would
come down those stairs.

 Why tuck a blanket around a corpse as if to
protect her from the basement chill.
 Missing pages were found from the note pad
used to write the ransom note.
 Two possible practice notes were found in
the same pad.
 During interviews where the person may be
deceptive, a red flag goes up when someone
“swears to god” that they didn’t do
something.

 Definition:
Statement analysis is a technique
used, particularly in police investigation,
to examine a person's words to detect
concealed information, missing
information, and whether the information
that person has provided is true or false.
...

The note is very long. Most ransom notes are short
and to the point. Do you really want to spend time
writing three pages.
Legitimate or bogus?

 “represent a small foreign
faction”
If you are a foreigner, would you call
yourself a foreigner. You are not a
foreigner to yourself.
If you went to another country and did a
kidnapping, would you call yourself a
foreigner.
Examples:
“We are the Islamic Jihad”
“We are the KKK”
but
We are foreigners?????

 “You will withdraw
$118,000 from your
account”
The kidnapper may know the
Ramsey’s are wealthy, but how do
they know there is that amount of
money in their account.
Why not say “get the money” or
“from the bank”. They don’t care
where you get the money from !
Kidnappers are greedy. Why such
a small amount of money.

“bring an adequate size
attaché case to the
bank”
Do you really think kidnappers
need to remind you to bring a
big enough case to hold the
money ?
“ I advise you to be
rested”
It is doubtful a kidnapper will
be concerned if you are rested
or not

 “she dies” is mentioned
four times in the letter
From “Dirty Harry”
to Callahan, on the phone] If I even
think you're being followed, the girl
dies. If you talk to anyone, I don't
care if it's a Pekinese pissing against
a lamp post, the girl dies ... No car.
I give you a certain amount of time
to go from phone booth to phone
booth. I ring four times. You don't
answer by the fourth ring, I hang up
and that's the end of the game. The
girl dies ... Cop! ... I hope you're not
stupid.

 The letter is starts off “Mr.
Ramsey” but by the third page
he is referred to as “John”
three times.
 Why change? Referring to him
as “John” is too personal.
 Did the writer know John
Ramsey?

 From the movie Speed:
“Now there is some rules once
the bus goes over fifty. The bomb
is on and no one gets off the bus.
I’m watching you Jack. Don’t
attempt to grow a brain. “
and
“You know that I’m on top of
you. Do not attempt to grow a
brain”.

 The word “hence”
Not a very common word.
When was the last time you
used this word.
The writer appears to be
uneducated by misspelling
several words in the first
paragraph but then shows
their education by using the
words “ deviation, attaché
and hence” later on.

 Patsy claimed she only
read the first part of
the note. She then
went to check
JonBenets room.
 Why then on the 911
call did she mention
the words “Victory”
and “SBTC” which were
at the end of the third
page.

On July 9, 2008
the Boulder
District Attorney’s
Office officially
cleared John and
Patsy Ramsey in
the death of their
daughter JonBenet
