4. Making the Quarban We use it during the liturgy as Jesus Christ said: “Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life” A deacon – a servant of the altar makes the Quarban while singing lots of psalms and prayers -- why? b/c the Quarban will be used in the Holy Communion

6. The Shape? Round circle = No end = Jesus Christ who lives forever in heaven ! Eternity and the His Kingdom of heaven have no end. He wants us to return back to Him so He tells us that : “Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life.”
7. Crosses 1 Big cross in the center = Our Lord Jesus Christ 12 smaller crosses = 12 disciples who surround our Lord. Can you name them? Mathew 10:2-4 and Acts 1:26

10. Agios “AgiosOtheos, AgiosEsheros, AgiosAthanatos”” “Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal” History: While Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea was shrouding and anointing and burying the body of Our Lord Jesus Christ they sang this song.
11. The Holy Communion The Quarban is used in Communion ! We partake of the Holy Bread = Holy Body of the Lord And We partake of the wine = the Blood of Jesus Christ And We are UNITED!!! He is IN US as He said:“Whoever eats My body and drinks My blood has eternal life.”
12. During Communion Fasting Take your shoe off As the Lord told Moses, take your shoe off because where you are standing is Holy! Standing quietly in line without talking Focusing only on the Lord Holding a napkin in your hands. Girls covering their hair because that is her crown!
13. Approaching the Lord Read quietly the prayer before Communion As we approach the Holy Body and Blood of Jesus Christ we should make the sign of the cross and partake of Him. Make sure to open your mouth wide so that Abona will not have trouble ! Drink water Read the prayer aftercommunion.
14. AnbaRewais Used to help his father in the farm and to sell salt on his little camel named Rewais He named himself after his camel . At 20 = He went to preach the word of God. He tried very hard to control his body so he can live for God He fasted for 26 days without food! When it came time for Communion he felt unworthy because he could see the angel with outstretched wings watching over the offering.
15. The Holy Bread of Blessing(Lu-Met-El-Berakah) Abona gives us the blessed Quarban at the end of the Liturgy We thank Abona, kiss the cross and his hand Why do we need to kiss Abona’s hand? How do we eat the Quarban? We break a piece of it gently and eat it b/c this is not just any food – it has been prayed upon and is Holy because it was touched by the Holy Body of Christ in Communion
16. God is Inside Us When we take Communion we took the Lord Jesus Christ inside of us! If the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ enters our mouth = How should we talk? Our words should be pure and clean !! Let us not scream at our parents or fight with our brothers and sisters. Lets try to work on this at least every Sunday and then all the days of the week If you are having trouble, please talk to Abona and He will help you to fight like AnbaRewais so you will be Holy as the Lord inside you is Holy!
17. Saving the Quarban for the sick or absent We thank the Lord for allowing us to come to church Let us not forget our brothers and sisters who are not able to come and save them an Quarban to show them that we miss them and love them.
18. The Lord takes away our Sins The holy bread is leavened…for the yeast refers to our wickedness, which Jesus carried in His Holy Body and entered into the fire of the Cross.”
