A deck describing Grycle project, that is a machinery to domestically treat waste, able to automatically transform undifferentiated garbage into grains of separated raw materials.
2. Waste of value, tough to be treated
Waste* is any substance or object which the holder
discards or intends or is required to discard
The domestic management and disposal of waste needs
differentiation, that can be disturbing, time consuming
and error prone
Waste is expensively transported and treated far away
from where it is generated, with great environmental
impact
Waste is a huge loss of resources and value in the form
of both materials and energy

3. There are industrial solu8ons, but
LIMITS OF INDUSTRIAL
TREATMENT OF WASTE
high energy consumption
huge cost of deployment, affordable
only for enterprise customers
(e.g. big municipalities)
sequenced selection of raw materials to
be separated
huge size of plants

4. Let’s treat waste close to where it is generated!
Our invention is a mechatronic machinery (patented in Italy, applied for PCT), associable
with domestic appliance, capable of replacing the human work in the preparation of the
waste in their path towards recycling
Waste is automatically transformed into grains of separated and valuable raw
materials
No need to differentiate for humans
Great reduction in garbage volume
Through a treatment process that inverts waste processing of the recycling chain in
industrial plants
volume Reduction and Movement
washing and sterilization
identification
separation
Three different technologies have been taken into consideration for the material recognition
recognition of weight and volume, from which we get the specific weight and therefore
the type of material

6. Figures of R&D phase
Grycle’s waste management
system is close to the third
release of its R&D phase, that
of a full functioning machinery.
The potential commercial
applications of this technology
are various. Such potential has
been confirmed by the interest
of Corner Stones, that is
funding the conclusion of the
prototyping phase (expected
by Q1, 2019).
The next, forthcoming phase,
is going be that of
industrializing the product.
Such phase will need to
collaborate with further
industrial and funding partners.

9. A side effect of growth
In EU-28 construction contributes
34.7 % of the total
Mining and quarrying (28.2 %),
manufacturing (10.2 %), waste and
water services (9.1 %) and
households (8.3 %)
The remaining 9.5 % was waste
generated from other economic
activities, mainly services (3.9 %) and
energy (3.7 %)

Yearly, some 2,320 million tonnes of waste
are treated in the EU-28
Nearly half (47.4 %) of the waste treated is
disposed of other than through incineration
(landfilling)
A further 36.2 % of the waste treated is
recycled
Just over one tenth (10.2 %) of the waste
treated is backfilled
The remainder is sent for incineration,
either with energy recovery (4.7 %) or
without (1.5 %)
